WARNING

  • Never place items in the washer that are dampened with gasoline or other flammable fluids.
  • No washer can completely remove oil.
  • Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil on it (including cooking oils).
  • Doing so can result in death, explosion, or fire.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, read the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, located in your appliance’s Owner’s Manual, before operating this appliance.
NOTES:

  • Not all features and cycles are on all models, and control panel appearance may vary.
  • If your model has a touch interface, the control panel features a sensitive surface that responds to a light touch of your finger. To ensure your selections are registered, touch the control panel with your fingertip, not your fingernail. When selecting a setting or option, simply touch its name.
  • If your model has physical buttons, make sure to press the button firmly.
  • At cycle completion, your setting and option choices will be remembered for the next cycle. However, if power to the washer is lost, the settings and options will go back to the factory defaults.

Button Descriptions

SOIL LEVEL (on some models)
Select the setting most suitable for your load. For heavily soiled and sturdy fabrics, select Heavy Soil Level for more wash time. For lightly soiled and delicate fabrics, select Light or Extra Light Soil Level for less wash time. A lighter soil-level setting will help reduce tangling and wrinkling.
WASH TEMP
Wash Temp senses and maintains uniform water temperatures by regulating incoming hot and cold water.
Select a wash temperature based on the type of fabric and soils being washed. For best results, follow the garment label instructions using the warmest wash water safe for your fabric.

NOTES:

  • On some models and cycles, warm and hot water may be cooler than your previous washer.
  • Even in a cold- or cool-water wash, some warm water may be added to the washer to maintain a minimum temperature. All rinses are cold.

WASH CYCLE KNOB
Use the Wash Cycle knob to select available cycles on your washer. Turn the knob to select a cycle for your laundry load. See online “Cycle Guide” for detailed descriptions.

RINSE OPTION
Select the option most suitable for your load. Select Auto with Extra Rinse, Deep Water Rinse, or Deep Water with Extra Rinse if using fabric softener during a cycle. During the final rinse, open the lid and manually add the measured, recommended amount of fabric softener.

WATER LEVEL
Set the Water Level knob to the Auto Sensing setting and the washer will automatically sense the appropriate water level for the load size and type.
Set the Water Level knob to the Deep Water Wash setting and the washer will automatically add more water to any cycle at any time during the wash process.
NOTE: Expect longer cycle times due to extended fill times when using the Deep Water Wash option.

START/PAUSE/CANCEL BUTTON
Press to start the selected cycle. Press again to pause the cycle and unlock the lid. Close the lid and press to restart the cycle. Press and hold to cancel a cycle and pump out the water.
NOTE: If the washer is spinning, it may take several minutes to unlock the lid.

PROGRESS
The Progress lights show the progress of a cycle. At each stage of the process, you may notice sounds or pauses that are different from your previous washers.

Sensing/Fill
When the Start/Pause/Cancel button is pressed and the Water Level knob is set to Auto Sensing, the washer will fill and begin sensing to determine load size and balance. A short but noticeable pause in the cycle action occurs during sensing. This is normal.
Once sensing is complete, the washer will fill to the appropriate level for the detected load size and, on select cycles, agitation will occur during filling. This, too, is normal. When the washer is done filling, it will begin the wash phase of the cycle. To ensure that the most accurate load size is detected, avoid opening the lid during the “Sensing” phase.

NOTE: Sensing and wash phases will be paused by opening the unlocked lid. Close the lid to resume the cycle. If the lid is left open for more than 10 minutes, the washer will cancel the cycle and pump out the water.

Final Spin
The washer spins the load at increasing speeds for proper water removal based on the selected cycle and spin speed.

Wash
The washer will fill to the correct water level based on the load size and the Water Level selection. Certain cycles may agitate during the fill process to boost cleaning. When the wash cycle begins, you will hear the impeller increase speed. The motor sounds may change at different stages in the wash cycle while the washer performs different wash actions.
NOTE: The lid will automatically lock after the wash phase completes and before the initial spinout occurs, and will remain locked for the rest of the cycle.

Rinse
Certain cycles use a spray rinse, which adds water to the tub while the basket spins. You may hear sounds similar to the wash cycle as the washer rinses and moves the load. You may hear the motor turning on briefly (short hum) to move the basket while filling.

Cycle Complete
Once the cycle is complete, the lid will unlock and this light will come on. Remove the load promptly for best results.

Lid Locked
The Lid Locked feature allows for higher spin speeds. When lit, the lid is locked and cannot be opened without pausing the cycle. When the light is off, the lid can be opened.
To open the lid after it has been locked, press Start/Pause/Cancel. The lid will unlock once the washer movement has stopped. This may take several minutes if the load was spinning at high speed. Press Start/Pause/Cancel while the lid is closed to resume the cycle.

Adding Laundry Products

IMPORTANT: Using non-HE detergent will likely result in longer cycle times and reduced rinsing performance. It may also result in component malfunction and, over time, buildup of mold or mildew. HE detergents should be low-sudsing and quick-dispersing to produce the right amount of suds for the best performance.

Adding HE detergent to basket:
Add a measured amount of HE detergent or single-dose laundry packets into the basket. If using Oxi-type boosters, color-safe bleach, or fabric softener crystals, add to the bottom of the washer basket before adding clothes.
NOTE: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to determine the amount of laundry products to use.

Adding liquid chlorine bleach:
Do not overfill, dilute, or use more than 1 cup (236 mL). Do not use color-safe bleach or Oxi products in the same cycle with liquid chlorine bleach.

Adding liquid fabric softener manually to wash load:
During the final rinse, wait until the washer has completed filling and press the Start/Pause button to pause the washer. Lift the lid and add the measured, recommended amount of liquid fabric softener. Do not use more than the recommended amount. Close the lid and press the Start/Pause button again to start the washer. Always follow manufacturer’s directions for correct amount of fabric softener based on your load size.

PROGRAMMES

For choosing the appropriate programme for your kind of laundry, always respect the instructions on the care labels of the laundry. The value given in the tub symbol is the maximum temperature possible for washing the garment.

Mixed
For washing lightly to normally soiled resilient garments in cotton, linen, synthetic fibres and mixed fibres.

White
For washing normally to heavily soiled towels, underwear, table and bed linen, etc in resilient cotton and linen. Only when the temperature is selected at 90°C the cycle is provided with a prewash phase before main washing phase. In this case it is recommended to add detergent both, in the prewash and main wash section.

Cotton
Normally to heavily soiled and robust cottons .

Cotton
For washing normally soiled cotton garments. At 60°C, this is the standard cotton programme and the most efficient in terms of water and energy consumption.

Bed Linen
Use this programme to wash bed linen an towels in one single cycle. It optimises softner performance and helps you save time and energy. We recommend to use powder detergent.

Sport
For washing lightly soiled sports clothing (tracksuits, shorts, etc.). For best results, we recommend not exceeding the maximum load indicated in the ‚‘‘‘PROGRAMME CHART‘‘. We recommend using liquid detergent , and adding the amount suitable for half-load.

Duvet
Designed for washing eiderdown padded items such as double or single duvets, cushions and anoraks. It is recommended to load such padded items in the drum with the edges folded inwards and not to exceed ¾ of the drum’s volume. For optimal washing, we recommend using a liquid detergent.

Steam Refresh
This programme refreshes garments by removing bad odours and relaxing the fibres (1.5 kg, roughly 3 items). Insert dry items only (that are not dirty) and select programme “Steam Refresh”. Garments will be a little damp at the end of the cycle and can be worn after a few minutes. The “Steam Refresh” programme makes ironing easier.

  • Not recommended for wool or silk garments.
  • Do not add softeners or detergents.

Spin & Drain
Spins the load then empties the water. For resilient garments. If you exclude the spin cycle, the machine will drain only

Rinse & Spin
Rinses and the spins. For resilient garments.

Rapid 30 min
For washing lightly soiled garments quickly. This cycle lasts only 30 minutes, saving time and energy.

Colours 15°
This cycle helps protect colours by washing in cold water (15°C) and uses less energy to heat the water while still offering satisfactory wash results. Suitable for lightly soiled, ustained garments. This cycle offers wash results comparable to 40°c mixed at just 15°C.

Silk
Use this cycle to wash all silk garments. We recommend the use of special detergent which has been designed to wash delicate clothes.

Wool
All wool garments can be washed using programme ‚“Wool“ even those carryng the “hand-wash only “ label. For best results, use special detergents and do not exceed max kg declaration of laundry.

Delicates
For washing particularly delicate garments. Preferably turn garments inside out before washing.

Synthetics
For washing soiled garments made from synthetic fibres (such as polyester, polyacrylic, viscose, etc.) or cotton/synthetic blends.

Restart the cycle by pressing the “Start/Pause” button .
If desired, it is possible to add fabric softener into the appropriate compartment of the detergent drawer.

HINTS AND TIPS

Sort your laundry according to
Type of fabric/care label (cotton, mixed fibres, synthetics, wool, handwash items). Colour (separate coloured and white items, wash new coloured items separately). Delicates (wash small items – like nylon stockings – and items with hooks – like bras – in a cloth bag or pillow case with zip).

Empty all pockets
Objects like coins or lighters can damage your laundry as well as the drum.

Follow the dosage recommendation/additives
It optimizes the cleaning result, it avoids irritating residues of surplus detergent in your laundry and it saves money by avoiding waste of surplus detergent

Use low temperature and longer duration
The most efficient programmes in terms of energy consumption are generally those that perform at lower temperatures and longer duration.

Observe the load sizes
Load your washing machine up to the capacity indicated in the “PROGRAMME CHART” table to save water and energy.

Noise and remaining moisture content
They are influenced by the spinning speed: the higher the spinning speed in the spinning phase, the higher the noise and the lower the remaining moisture content.

DESCALE AND CLEAN PROCEDURE

A message on the display will regularly (roughly every 50 cycles) advise the user to run an automatic cleaning cycle to clean the washing machine and combat limescale build-up and bad odours.
For optimal maintenance we suggest using WPRO Limescale and grease remover, according to the instructions shown on the package. The product can be purchased by contacting the technical assistance service or through the website www.whirlpool.eu
Whirlpool declines all liability for any damages to the appliance caused by the use of other cleaning products for washing machines available on the market.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

For any cleaning and maintenance, switch off and unplug the washing machine. Do not use flammable fluids to clean the washing machine.
Clean and maintain your washing machine periodically (at least 4 times per year).

Cleaning the outside of the washing machine
Use a soft damp cloth to clean the outer parts of the washing machine. Do not use glass or general purpose cleaners, scouring powder or similar to clean the control panel – these substances might damage the printing

Checking the water supply hose
Check the inlet hose regularly for brittleness and cracks. If damaged, replace it by a new hose available through our After-Sales Service or your specialist dealer. Depending on the hose type:
If the inlet hose has a transparent coating, periodically check if the colour intensifies locally. If yes, the hose may have a leak and should be replaced.

Cleaning the water filter / draining residual water
If you used a hot wash programme, wait until the water has cooled down before draining any water. Clean the water filter regularly, to avoid that the water cannot drain after the wash due to obstruction of the filter. If the water cannot drain, the display indicates that the water filter may be clogged.

Remove the plinth by using the removable plastic partition of the detergent dispenser: push downwards one side of the plinth with your hand, then push the removable plastic partition into the gap between plinth and front panel and pry open the plinth. Place a broad, flat container beneath the water filter, to collect the drain water. Slowly turn the filter counterclockwise until water flows out. Let the water flow out, without removing the filter. When the container is full, close the water filter by turning it in clockwise. Empty the container. Repeat this procedure until all the water has drained. Lay a cotton cloth beneath the water filter, which can absorb a small amount of rest water. Then remove the water filter by turning it out anti clockwise. Clean the water filter: remove residues in the filter and clean it under running water. Insert the water filter and reinstall the plinth: Reinsert the water filter again by turning it in clockwise direction. Make sure to turn it in as far as it goes; the filter handle must be in vertical position. To test water tightness of the water filter, you can pour about 1 liter of water into the detergent dispenser. Then reinstall the plinth.

Cleaning the detergent dispenser
Remove the detergent dispenser by pressing on the release button and at the same time pulling out the detergent dispenser. Remove the insert from the detergent dispenser, as well as the insert of the softener compartment. Clean all parts under running water, removing all detergent or softener residues. Wipe the parts dry with a soft cloth. Reinstall the detergent dispenser and push it back into the detergent compartment.

ACCESSORIES
Contact our After-Sales Service to check if the following accessories are available for your washing machine model.

Stacking kit shelf
By which your dryer can be fixed on top of your washing machine to save space and to facilitate loading and unloading your washing machine in the higher position.

TRANSPORT AND HANDLING
Never lift the washing machine by holding it at the worktop.
Pull out the mains plug, and close the water tap. Make sure that door and detergent dispenser are properly closed. Disconnect the inlet hose from the water tap, and remove the drain hose from your draining point. Remove all rest water from the hoses, and fix them so that they cannot get damaged during transport. Refit the transport bolts. Follow the instructions for removing the transport bolts in the INSTALLATION GUIDE in reverse order.

To avoid unintentionally locking the dispenser or changing other settings, press both buttons at exactly the same time.
Press and hold Lock and Filter for 3 seconds again to turn cooling back on.

ICE MAKER ON/OFF

You can turn the ice maker on or off from the control panel.
To manually turn off the ice maker, press Temp, and Fast Cool at the same time and hold for 3 seconds until the “Ice Maker Off” icon lights up. When the ice maker is set to off, it will stop producing ice.
Pressing and holding Temp and Fast Cool again for 3 seconds turns on the ice maker and the “Ice Maker Off” icon disappears.

FAST COOL

The Fast Cool feature assists with periods of high refrigerator use, full grocery loads, or temporarily warm room temperatures. Once selected, Fast Cool will remain on for 24 hours unless manually turned off.

  • Press Fast Cool to set the freezer and refrigerator to the lowest temperature setting. When the feature is on, the Fast Cool icon will appear on the dispenser display screen.
  • To manually turn off the Fast Cool feature, press Fast Cool again or adjust the refrigerator temperature set point. The Fast Cool icon will disappear when the feature is off.
NOTE: Setting the freezer to a colder temperature may make some foods, such as ice cream, harder.

WATER FILTER STATUS

When a water filter has been installed in the refrigerator, the water filter status lights help you know when to change your water filter. See “Water Filtration System” in the Owner’s Manual.
The disposable water filter should be replaced at least every 6 months. If the water flow to the water dispenser or ice maker decreases noticeably before 6 months have passed, replace the water filter more often.

  •  The water filter status icon changes will change from Normal (blue water) to Order (red waves) and “Order Filter” (orange) when 90% of the volume of water for which the filter is rated has passed through the filter or 5 months have passed since the filter was installed.
  • The “Replace Filter” (red) icon will illuminate and blink continuously during dispensing when the rated volume of water has passed through the filter or 6 months have passed since the filter was installed. A new water filter should be installed immediately when the Replace light is illuminated.
  • After 14 days at Replace Filter stage, the “Replace Filter” and “Water” icons will glow (red) at all times and blink continuously during dispensing. Also, an alert chime will sound three times following dispensing.
  • After changing the water filter, reset the water filter status. On the display screen, press and hold Filter Rese for 3 seconds. The status light will change from Replace Filter (red) to Normal (blue water) when the system is reset.

DISPENSER LIGHT

When you use the dispenser, the lights will turn on automatically. If you want the light to be on continuously, you may choose either On or Dim. The display screen indicates which mode is selected.
ON: Press Light to turn the dispenser light on.
DIM: Press Light a second time to select Dim mode. The dispenser light will remain on, but at a lower intensity.
OFF: Press Light a third time to turn off the dispenser light.

The dispenser lights are LEDs that cannot be changed. If it appears that your dispenser lights are not working, see online “Troubleshooting” for more information.

DISPENSER LOCK

The dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to avoid unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the refrigerator, to the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the controls and dispenser lever. To turn off the ice maker, see the “Ice Maker and Storage Bin” section in the Owner’s Manual.

  • Press and hold Lock for 3 seconds to lock the dispenser.
  • Press and hold Lock a second time to unlock the dispenser.
The display screen indicates when the dispenser is locked.

Temperature Calibration
IMPORTANT: Do not use a thermometer to measure the oven temperature. Elements will cycle on and off as needed to maintain a consistent temperature but may run slightly hot or cool at any point in time due to this cycling. Opening the oven door will affect the cycling of the elements and impact the temperature.

The oven provides accurate temperatures and has been thoroughly tested at the factory. However, it may cook faster or slower than your previous oven, causing baking or browning differences. If necessary, the temperature calibration can be adjusted in either Fahrenheit or Celsius.
On double ovens, the upper oven and the lower oven can each be calibrated independently.

A minus sign means the oven will be cooler by the displayed amount. The absence of a minus sign means the oven will be warmer by the displayed amount. Adjust the oven temp up to +,-30° (+,-18°C). It is recommended to make changes in 5°F (3°C) increments until desired results are achieved.
NOTE: The oven display will continue to show the original set temperature and will not reflect the calibration offset. For example, if set to 350° (177°C) and calibrated to -20, the display will continue to show 350° (177°C).

To Adjust Oven Temperature Calibration:

  1. Press the Tools keypad.
  2. Select MORE MODES.
  3. Select TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION.
  4. Scroll from left to right to increase or decrease the temperature.

NOTE: Each oven calibration can be independently set.

Sabbath Mode
For guidance on usage and a complete list of models with Sabbath Mode, visit www.star-k.org.
The Sabbath  Mode sets the oven to remain on in a bake setting until disabled.
When the Sabbath Mode is activated, only the Bake cycle will operate. All other cooking and cleaning cycles are disabled. No tones will sound, and the displays will not indicate temperature changes. When the oven door is opened or closed, the oven light will not turn on or off, and the heating elements will not turn on or off immediately.
For double ovens, the upper and lower oven temperatures and cook timers can be set independently. If a cooking timer is set, the countdown will appear. The timer will count down once the timer is set.
NOTE: If a power failure happens while Sabbath Mode is running, the oven will show Sabbath Mode is on, but the Bake cycle will not be on. If the oven door is opened during this time, the oven light will not turn on.

To enable and activate Sabbath Mode:

  1. Press the Tools keypad.
  2.  Select MORE MODES.
  3. Select SABBATH MODE.
  4. Press SABBATH MODE again to enable Sabbath Mode (Sabbath Mode is preset to off).
  5. Select YES if you would like to have both ovens or just one oven on and baking during the Sabbath.
  6. If only one oven is to be used, select that one. Once the cavity is selected, the user will be prompted to input the temperature and cook time.
If Sabbath Mode is to be used for both ovens, select each oven cavity separately. Once the cavity is selected, the user will be prompted to input the temperature and cook time for each cavity independently. OPTIONAL: For timed cooking in Sabbath Mode, press ADD A COOK TIME for the selected oven,   enter the desired cook time and then press NEXT.
  7. Select START.

To Disable and Exit Sabbath Mode:

  1. Press the Oven Power/Cancel Keypad.
  2. Press and hold the display screen for three seconds.

To Adjust Temperature for single and double oven models:

  1. Press the +/- 25 on the display screen to select the new temperature.

NOTE: The temperature adjustment will not appear on the display, and no tones will sound.

Aluminum Foil
IMPORTANT: To avoid permanent damage to the oven bottom finish, do not line the oven bottom with any type of foil or liner.
For best cooking results, do not cover the entire oven rack with foil because air must be able to move freely.
To catch spills, place foil on the rack below the dish. Make sure foil is at least 1/2″ (13 mm) larger than the dish and that it is turned up at the edges.

Positioning Racks and Bakeware
IMPORTANT: To avoid permanent damage to the porcelain finish, do not place food or bakeware directly on  the oven door or bottom. Racks

  • Position racks before turning on the oven.
  • Do not position racks with bakeware on them.
  • Make sure racks are level.
  • Place food so it will not rise into the broil element. Allow at least 1/2″ (13 mm) between pans and the broil element.

To move a rack, pull it out to the stop position, raise the front edge, and then lift it out. Use the following illustration and charts as a guide for positioning racks.

Rack Positions: Upper and Lower Oven

Broiling

Food Rack Position
Most broiling 6

For hamburger patties to have a well-seared exterior and a rare interior, use a flat rack in position 6. Side 1  should cook for approximately 3 minutes. Side 2 should cook for approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Expect a  moderate degree of smoke when broiling.

Traditional Cooking

Food Rack Position
Large roasts, turkeys, angel food,
bundt cakes, quick bread, pies
1 or 2
Yeast bread, casseroles, meat and poultry 2
Cookies, biscuits, muffins, cakes 2 or 3 when single-rack baking; 2  and 5 when multi-rack baking.

Baking Layer Cakes on Two Racks
For best results when baking cakes on two racks, use rack positions 2 and 5 with the Bake function. Place the cakes on the racks as shown. Keep at least 2″ (5.0 cm) of space between the front of the racks and the front of the cakes.

Baking Cookies on Two Racks
For best results when baking cookies on two racks, use rack positions 2 and 5.
Bakeware
To cook food evenly, hot air must be able to circulate. Allow 2″ (5.0 cm) of space around bakeware and oven walls. Use the following chart as a guide.

Number of Pan(s) Position on Rack
1 Center of rack.
2 Side by side or slightly staggered.
3 or 4 Refer to the previous illustration.

NOTE: Bakeware materials and color may affect results. Dark, dull, non-stick, or glass pans may require shorter baking times, in contrast, insulated or stainless steel pans may require longer baking times. Follow bakeware manufacturer’s recommendations.

Oven Vent(s)

Single and Double Oven Double Oven
A. Control panel D. Upper oven
B. Oven vent E. Oven vent
C. Single oven or upper  double oven F. Lower oven
G. Bottom vent G. Bottom vent

The oven vent(s) should not be blocked or covered since they allow the inlet of fresh air into the cooling system. Also, the bottom vent should not be blocked or covered since it allows the inlet of fresh air into the cooling system and the outlet of hot air from the cooling system. Blocking or covering vents will cause poor air circulation, affecting cooking, cleaning, and cooling results.

Preheating and Oven Temperature

Preheating
When beginning a Bake cycle, the oven will begin preheating after the Start is pressed. The oven will take approximately 12 to 17 minutes to reach 350°F (177°C) with all of the oven racks provided with your oven inside oven cavity. Higher temperatures will take longer to preheat. The preheat cycle rapidly increases the oven temperature. The actual oven temperature will go above your set temperature to offset the heat lost when your oven door is opened to insert food. This ensures that when you place your food in the oven, the oven will begin at the proper temperature. Insert your food when the preheat tone sounds. Do not open the door during preheating before the tone sounds.
Rapid Preheat
Rapid Preheat can be used to shorten the preheating time. Only one standard flat oven rack should be in the oven during Rapid Preheat. Extra racks should be removed prior to starting. The preheating cycle should be completed before placing food in the oven. When the Rapid Preheat cycle is complete, the oven starts a normal  Bake cycle.
IMPORTANT: Rapid Preheat should be used only for one-rack baking.
Oven Temperature
While in use, the oven elements will cycle on and off as needed to maintain a consistent temperature, but they may run slightly hot or cool at any point in time due to this cycling. Opening the oven door while in use will release the hot air and cool the oven which could impact the cooking time and performance. It is recommended to use the oven light to monitor cooking progress.  Before baking and roasting, position racks according to the “Positioning Racks and Bakeware” section. When roasting, it is not necessary to wait for the oven preheat cycle to end before putting food in unless it is recommended in the recipe.

Baking and Roasting

The oven will take approximately 12 to 17 minutes to reach 350°F (177°C) with all oven racks inside the oven cavity. The preheat cycle rapidly increases the temperature inside the oven cavity. Higher temperatures will take longer to preheat. Factors that impact preheat times include room temperature, oven temperature, and the number of racks. Unused oven racks can be removed prior to preheating your oven to help reduce preheat time. The actual oven temperature will go above the set temperature to offset the heat lost when the oven door is opened to insert food. This ensures that the oven will begin at the proper temperature when you place food in the oven. Insert food when the preheat tone sounds. Do not open the door during preheat
until the tone sounds.
During baking or roasting, the bake and broil elements will cycle on and off in intervals to maintain the oven temperature.
Depending on the model, if the oven door is opened during baking or roasting, the heating elements (bake and broil) will turn off approximately 30 seconds after the door is opened. They will turn on again approximately 30 seconds after the door is closed.

Frozen Bake™
Frozen Bake™ Technology automatically adjusts the manufacturer’s bake time by combining preheating and baking to deliver great packaged frozen food results without the wait. There are multiple preprogrammed food options. When using Frozen BakeTM Technology, it is important that you follow all manufacturer’s instructions including venting, covering, stirring or placing on a baking sheet to ensure a good result. When cooking frozen meals, only cook items that provide instructions for cooking in a conventional oven. Place your dish in the center of the rack and select one of the rack positions recommended for Frozen Bake in the  “Positioning Racks and Bakeware” section and bake only one package or pan at a time. Use the temperature and maximum bake time from the package.
A tone will alert you to check the food for doneness before the cooking time is complete and again at the end of the cooking time. The display will prompt you to add additional ook time if needed.

Broiling

When broiling, no preheating is necessary unless recommended otherwise in the recipe. Position food on grid in a broiler pan, and then place it in the center of the oven rack. Close the oven door to ensure proper broiling temperature.
NOTE: Odors and smoke are normal the first few times the oven is used or if the oven is heavily soiled.
Changing the temperature when broiling allows more precise control when cooking. The lower the broil setting, the slower the cooking. Thicker cuts and unevenly shaped pieces of meat, fish, and poultry may cook better at lower broil settings. Place the food in the upper or lower oven. Refer to the “Positioning Racks and  Bakeware” section for more information. In lower settings, the broil element will cycle on and off to maintain the proper temperature.

  • For best results, use a broiler pan and grid. It is designed to drain juices and help avoid spatter and smoke. If you would like to purchase a broiler pan, one may be ordered. Please refer to the “Accessories” section for more information.

OVEN CARE

Self-Cleaning Cycle

WARNING
Burn Hazard
Do not touch the oven during the Self-Cleaning cycle.
Keep children away from the oven during the Self-Cleaning cycle.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in burns.

IMPORTANT: The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off during the Self- Cleaning cycle. Exposure to fumes may result in the death of certain birds. Always move birds to another closed and well-ventilated room.
Self-clean the oven before it becomes heavily soiled. Heavy soil results in longer cleaning and more smoke.
Keep the kitchen well-ventilated during the Self-Cleaning cycle to help get rid of heat, odors, and smoke.
Do not block the oven vent(s) during the Self-Cleaning cycle. Air must be able to move freely. See the “Oven  Vents” section.
Do not clean, rub, damage, or move the oven door gasket. The door gasket is essential for a good seal.

Prepare Oven:

  • Remove the broiler pan, grid, cookware, and bakeware, and, on some models, the temperature probe from the oven.
  • Remove oven racks to keep them shiny and easy to slide. See the “General Cleaning” section for more information.
  • Remove any foil from the oven because it may burn or melt, damaging the oven.
  • Hand clean inside door edge and the 1 1/2″ (3.8 cm) area around the inside oven cavity frame, being certain not to move or bend the gasket. This area does not get hot enough during high-temp self-cleaning to remove soil. Do not let water, cleaner, etc., enter slots on the door frame. Use a damp cloth to clean this area.
  • Wipeout any loose soil to reduce smoke and avoid damage. At high temperatures, foods react with porcelain. Staining, etching, pitting, or faint white spots can result. This is normal and will not affect cooking performance.

How the Cycle Works

IMPORTANT: The heating and cooling of porcelain on steel in the oven may result in discoloring, loss of gloss, hairline cracks, and popping sounds.
The Self-Cleaning cycle uses very high temperatures, burning soil to powdery ash. Suggested clean times are 3 hours for light soil, 4 hours for medium soil, and 5 hours for heavy soil. Once the oven has completely cooled, remove ash with a damp cloth. To avoid breaking the glass, do not apply a cool damp cloth to the inner door glass before it has completely cooled.
The oven lights will not work during the Self-Cleaning cycle.

NOTE: The oven has a two-speed cooling fan motor. During the Self-Cleaning cycle, the fan(s) will operate at its highest speed to increase airflow to better exhaust the hotter air through the oven vent(s). An increase in noise may be noticeable during and after the Self-Cleaning cycle until the oven cools.

Before Self-Cleaning,  make sure the door is closed completely or it will not lock and the cycle will not begin. When the oven is locked, the doors of the oven cannot be opened. To avoid damage to the doors, do not force the doors open when the oven is locked.

  1. Touch the Tools keypad.
  2. Select the Self Clean icon.
(On double-oven models) Select Upper Cavity or Lower Cavity.
  3. Select type of Self-Cleaning:
Steam: 1 hour: Clean up after everyday light spills using lower
heat and 1 1/4 cups (295.74 mL) of water.
High temp: 4 hours: 3-hour cycle and 1-hour cooling.
High temp: 5 hours: 4-hour cycle and 1-hour cooling.
High temp: 6 hours: 5-hour cycle and 1-hour cooling.
  4. Follow the prompts on the oven display to prepare the oven.
  5. Select START to begin the cleaning process.
    OR
Select DELAY START to set a delayed Self-Cleaning cycle. See the “To Delay Start Self-Cleaning Cycle”  section. The oven doors will automatically lock.
NOTE: It may take a couple of moments for the oven door to automatically lock after starting the Self-Clean Cycle. When the self-cleaning cycle is complete and the oven cools, the oven doors will unlock.
  6. When the oven is completely cooled, remove ash with a damp cloth.

To Delay Start Self-Cleaning Cycle:
Follow steps 1 through 4 above, then:

  1.  Select DELAY START.
  2. Select the start time of when the Self-Cleaning cycle should begin by scrolling from left to right.
  3. Select START DELAY.
The oven doors will automatically lock after the Delay Start countdown. When the Self-Cleaning cycle is complete and the oven cools, the oven doors will unlock.
  4. When the oven is completely cooled, remove ash with a damp cloth.

To Stop Self-Cleaning Anytime:
Touch the Oven Cancel Keypad for single oven models, or the keypads for double oven models. If the oven temperature is too high, the door will remain locked. It will not unlock until the oven cools.

Steam Clean

The Steam Clean feature is designed for light oven cavity bottom cleaning on models that have hidden bake in both ovens. Allow the oven to cool to room temperature before using the Steam Clean feature. If your oven cavity is above 200°F (93°C), the Steam Clean feature will not activate until it cools down. Remove all racks and  accessories from the oven cavity. For best results, use 10 oz (295.7 mL) of distilled or filtered water. Do not use oven cleaners.
The Steam Clean feature will take approximately 1 hour. A tone will sound at the end of the cycle.
IMPORTANT: Because the water in the oven bottom is hot, do not open the oven door during the Steam  Clean cycle. Touch the Oven Cancel keypad for single oven models and the Upper/Lower keypads for double oven models at any time to end the cycle. The display will return to the time of day.

Helpful Hints

  • Once the Steam Clean cycle is complete and the oven is completely cooled, remove all remaining water in the bottom of the oven with a sponge or cloth.
  • Wipe any remaining moisture from the oven door interior, oven cavity interior sides, and cooktop.
  • Use a soft brush or nylon scrubber to wipe the oven interior.
This may help with more stubborn stains.
  • It is recommended to use distilled or filtered water, as tap water may leave mineral deposits on the oven bottom. Use a cloth soaked with vinegar or lemon juice to remove any mineral deposits that may be left after the Steam Clean cycle.
  • If the oven is heavily soiled, use the Self-Cleaning cycle. The Steam Clean cycle may be used first to eliminate most of the debris, resulting in a more effective self-cleaning.

To Steam Clean:

  1. Open the oven door of the selected oven and remove all racks and accessories from the oven cavity.
  2. Pour 10 oz (295.7 mL) of distilled or filtered water into the oven bottom. Then close the oven door.
  3. Touch the Tools keypad.
(On double-oven models) Select Upper Cavity or Lower Cavity.
  4. Select STEAM CLEAN.
  5. Select START.
  6. After approximately 1 hour, a tone will sound to signal the end of the cycle. Touch the keypad for single oven models and the keypads for double oven models to clear the display.
  7. When the oven is completely cooled, remove any excess water with a sponge or cloth and wipe down the oven interior. If needed, use a non-scratch copper scrubbing pad to remove stubborn soils.

General Cleaning

IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and the oven is cool. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products. For additional information, you can visit the Frequently Asked Questions   (FAQs) section of our website at www.whirlpool.com. In Canada, refer to the Customer Service section at www.whirlpool.ca.
Soap, water, and a soft cloth or sponge are suggested first unless otherwise noted.
EXTERIOR PORCELAIN ENAMEL SURFACES (on some models)
Food spills containing acids, such as vinegar and tomato, should be cleaned as soon as the entire oven is cool.  These spills may affect the finish.
Cleaning Method:

  • Glass cleaner, mild liquid cleaner or nonabrasive scrubbing pad: Gently clean around the model/serial/rating plate because scrubbing may remove numbers.
  • Affresh® Kitchen and Appliance Cleaner Part Number W10355010 (not included): See the “Accessories” section for more information.

STAINLESS STEEL (on some models)
NOTE: To avoid damage to stainless steel surfaces, do not use soap-filled scouring pads, abrasive cleaners,  steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths, or abrasive paper towels. Damage may occur to stainless steel surfaces, even with one-time or limited use.

Cleaning Method:
Rub in direction of grain to avoid damaging.

  • Affresh® Stainless Steel Cleaner Part Number W10355016: See the “Accessories” section for more information.

METALLIC PAINT (on some models)
Do not use abrasive cleaners, cleaners with bleach, rust removers, ammonia or sodium hydroxide (lye) because paint surface may stain.
CONTROL PANEL AND OVEN DOOR EXTERIOR
To avoid damage, do not use abrasive cleaners, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths, or abrasive paper towels.

Cleaning Method:

  • Glass cleaner and soft cloth or sponge: Apply glass cleaner to soft cloth or sponge, not directly on panel.
  • Affresh® Kitchen and Appliance Cleaner Part Number W10355010 (not included): See the “Accessories”  section for more information.

OVEN RACKS
Cleaning Method:

  • Steel-wool pad.
  • For racks that have discolored and are harder to slide, a light coating of vegetable oil applied to the rack  guides will help them slide.

OVEN CAVITY AND OVEN DOOR INTERIOR
Do not use oven cleaners.
Food spills should be cleaned after the oven cools. At high temperatures, foods react with porcelain and staining, etching, pitting, or faint white spots can result.

  • Cleaning Method:
  • Self-Cleaning cycle: See the “Self-Cleaning Cycle” section first.
  • For optimal door cleaning results, wipe away any deposits with a damp sponge before running the cycle.

Oven Lights
The oven light(s) are standard 25-watt appliance bulbs. Before replacing, make sure the oven is cool and the controls are turned off.
To Replace:

  1. Disconnect power.
  2. Open oven door.
  3. Turn the glass bulb cover in the back of the oven counterclockwise to remove.
  4. Turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it from the socket.
  5. Replace bulb, and then bulb cover, by turning clockwise.
  6. Reconnect power.

Demo Mode (product is in Demo Mode): See “To Exit Demo Mode” in the “Tools” section.
Clean cycle did not
work on all spills
Several cooking cycles between Clean cycles or spills on oven walls and doors: Run additional Clean cycles. The affresh®   Kitchen and Appliance Cleaner can be used for stubborn soils. See the “Accessories” and “Self-Cleaning Cycle” sections for more information.
Warm air coming
from oven vent
Warm air coming from the oven vent is normal. During a self-clean cycle, the air stream is increased. The cooling fan may operate both during an oven’s cycle and after the cycle has ended, causing warm air to exit from the oven vent.
Long preheat times Not all cycles require preheating. See cycle instructions for preheat recommendations. Most cycles preheat to 350°F (177°C) in 12 to 17 minutes. Higher temperatures will take more time. Removing
unused oven racks prior to preheating can help reduce preheat time.
Self-Cleaning cycle
will not operate
The oven door is open: Close the oven door all the way.
The function has not been entered: See the “Self-Cleaning Cycle” section.
A Timed Self-Clean cycle has been set: See the “Self-Cleaning Cycle” section.
On double oven models, one oven is self-cleaning: When one oven is self-cleaning, the other oven cannot be set to self-clean.
Oven cooking results
not what expected
The set temperature was incorrect: Double-check the recipe in a reliable cookbook.
Oven temperature needs adjustment: See “Temperature Calibration” in the “More Modes” section.
Oven was not preheated: See the “Baking and Roasting” section.
Racks were positioned improperly: See the “Positioning Racks and Bakeware” section.
Not enough air circulation around bakeware: See the “Positioning Racks and Bakeware” section.
Batter distributed unevenly in the pan: Check that batter is level in the pan.
Darker browning of food caused by dull or dark bakeware: Lower the oven temperature to 25°F (15°C) or move the rack to a higher position in the oven.
Lighter browning of food caused by shiny or light-colored bakeware: Move the rack to a lower position in the oven.
Incorrect length of cooking time was used: Adjust cooking time.
The oven door was not closed: Be sure that the bakeware does not keep the door from closing.
The oven door was opened during cooking: Oven peeking releases oven heat and can result in longer cooking times.
The rack is too close to the bake burner, making baked items too brown on the bottom: Move the rack to a higher position in the oven.
Pie crusts browning too quickly: Use aluminum foil to cover the edge of the crust and/or reduce baking temperature.

Cooktop Use

WARNING

Fire Hazard
Turn off all controls when done cooking.
Failure to do so could result in death or fire.

Coil Elements and Burner Bowls (on some
models)
Coil elements should be level for optimal cooking results. Burner bowls, when clean, reflect heat back to the cookware. They also
help catch spills.
Cookware should not extend more than 1/2″ (1.3 cm) over the coil element. If the cookware is uneven or too large, it can produce excess heat, causing the burner bowl to change color.

  • Weight of the Cookware to be no Lighter than 1 lb.
  • Discoloration of Medallion of the Coil Element is expected over time.
  • Starting in June 2018 Whirlpool is equipping this product with new temperature-limiting coils pursuant to the updated standards in UL858. These new coils may vary cooking times compared to your old cooktop, e.g., a slightly longer time to boil large volumes of water.

Ceramic Glass
The surface cooking area may glow red when an element is ON. Some parts of the surface cooking area may not glow red when an element is ON. The glow will also randomly cycle off and back on again, even while on Hi, to keep the cooktop from extreme temperatures. This is a normal operation.

It is normal for the surface of the light-colored ceramic glass to appear to change color when surface cooking areas are hot. As the glass cools, it will return to its original color.

Clean the cooktop after each use to help avoid scratches, pitting, abrasions, and to condition the glass surface. Affresh ® Cooktop Cleaner and the Cooktop Scraper are also recommended for stubborn soils. Do not use abrasive cleaners, cleaning pads, or harsh chemicals for cleaning. The Cooktop Care Kit contains all of the items needed to clean and condition your ceramic glass cooktop. Refer to the “Range Maintenance and Care” section in the Owner’s Manual for additional information.

IMPORTANT: To avoid permanent damage to the cooktop surface and to make soils easier to remove, clean the cooktop after each use to remove all soils.

  • Avoid storing jars or cans above the cooktop. Dropping a heavy or hard object onto the cooktop could crack the cooktop.
  • To avoid damage to the cooktop, do not leave a hot lid on the cooktop. As the cooktop cools, air can become trapped between the lid and the cooktop and the ceramic glass could break when the lid is removed.
  • For foods containing sugar in any form, clean up all spills and soils as soon as possible. Allow the cooktop to cool down slightly. Then, while wearing oven mitts, remove the spills using a scraper while the surface is still warm. If sugary spills are allowed to cool down, they can adhere to the cooktop and cause pitting and permanent marks.
  • To avoid scratches, do not slide cookware or bakeware across the cooktop. Aluminum or copper bottoms and rough finishes on cookware or bakeware could leave scratches or marks on the cooktop.
  • Do not cook popcorn in prepackaged aluminum containers on the cooktop. They could leave aluminum marks that cannot be removed completely.
  • To avoid damage to the cooktop, do not allow objects that could melt, such as plastic or aluminum foil, to touch any part of the entire cooktop.
  • To avoid damage to the cooktop, do not use the cooktop as a cutting board.
  • Use cookware about the same size as the surface cooking area. Cookware should not extend more than 1/2″ (13 mm) outside the area.
  • Use flat-bottomed cookware for best heat conduction and energy efficiency. Cookware with rounded, warped, ribbed, or dented bottoms could cause uneven heating and poor cooking results.
  • Determine flatness by placing the straight edge of a ruler across the bottom of the cookware. While you rotate the ruler, no space or light should be visible between it and the cookware.
  • Cookware designed with slightly indented bottoms or small expansion channels can be used.
  • Make sure the bottoms of pots and pans are clean and dry before using them. Residue and water can leave deposits when heated.
  • To avoid damage to the cooktop, do not cook foods directly on the cooktop.

The Cooktop On indicator light is located on the console panel.
When any control knob/cooktop element on the console panel is turned on, the Cooktop On indicator light will glow.
Hot Surface Indicator Light
On ceramic glass models, the hot surface indicator light is located on the console panel.
The hot surface indicator light will glow as long as any surface the cooking area is too hot to touch, even after the surface cooking the area is turned off.

Dual Zone Cooking Element (on some models)
The Dual Zone cooking element offers flexibility depending on the size of the cookware. Single size can be used in the same way as a regular element. The dual size combines both the single and outer elements and is recommended for larger size cookware.

Melt Cooking Element (on some models)
The Melt cooking element offers flexibility due to a wide range of settings between HI and Melt. The HI heat option can be used to boil small amounts of liquid quickly. The lowest setting can be used to prepare sauces and to keep foods at a low temperature.
Use cookware appropriate in size for the Melt element.

Warm Zone (on some models)
Use the cooktop Warm Zone to keep cooked foods warm. One hour is the recommended maximum time to maintain food quality.
Do not use it to heat cold foods.
The Warm Zone can be used alone or when any of the other surface cooking areas are being used.
The Warm Zone area will not glow red when cycling on. However, the Cooktop On indicator light will be displayed when the Warm Zone is in use.

  • Use only cookware recommended for oven and cooktop use.
  • Cover all foods with a lid or aluminum foil. When warming baked goods, allow a small opening in the cover for moisture to escape.
  • To avoid damage to the cooktop, do not use plastic wrap to cover food because the plastic wrap may melt.
  • Use pot holders or oven mitts to remove food.

To Use:

  1. To turn on, press WARM ZONE and then the Start keypad.
  2. To turn it off, press WARM ZONE.

Cookware

IMPORTANT: Do not leave empty cookware on a hot surface cooking area, element or surface burner. Ideal cookware should have a flat bottom, straight sides and a well-fitting lid, and the material should be of medium-to-heavy thickness.
Rough finishes may scratch the cooktop. Aluminum and copper may be used as a core or base in cookware. However, when used
as a base, they can leave permanent marks on the surfaces.

Cookware material is a factor in how quickly and evenly heat is transferred, which affects cooking results. A nonstick finish has the same characteristics as its base material. For example, aluminum cookware with a nonstick finish will take on the properties of aluminum.
Cookware with nonstick surfaces should not be used under the broiler.
Check for flatness by placing the straight edge of a ruler across the bottom of the cookware. While you rotate the ruler, no space
or light should be visible between it and the cookware.

Use the following chart as a guide for cookware material characteristics.

COOKWARE CHARACTERISTICS
Aluminum
  • Heats quickly and evenly.
  • Suitable for all types of cooking.
  • Medium or heavy thickness is best for most cooking tasks.
  • May leave aluminum residues, which may be diminished if cleaned immediately after cooking.
Cast iron
  • Heats slowly and evenly.
  • Good for browning and frying.
  • Maintains heat for slow cooking.
  • Rough edges or burrs may scratch the cooktop.
Ceramic or
Ceramic glass
  • Follow manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Heats slowly, but unevenly.
  • Ideal results on low to medium heat settings.
  • May scratch the cooktop.
Copper
  • Heats very quickly and evenly.
  • May leave copper residues, which may be diminished if cleaned immediately after cooking
  • Can leave a permanent stain or bond to the cooktop if overheated.
Earthenware
  • Follow manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Use on low heat settings.
  • May scratch the cooktop.
Porcelain enamel-on steel
or cast iron
  • See stainless steel or cast iron.
  • Porcelain enamel bakeware without the metal base may bond to the cooktop if overheated.
Stainless steel
  •  Heats quickly, but unevenly.
  • A core or base of aluminum or copper on stainless steel provides even heating.

Use flat-bottomed cookware for best cooking results and energy efficiency. The cookware should be about the same size as the cooking area outlined on the cooktop. Cookware should not extend more than 1/2″ (1.3 cm) outside the area.

Home Canning

Canning can be performed on a glass-smooth top cooking surface or traditional coil element cooktop. When canning for long periods, alternate the use of surface cooking areas or elements between batches. This allows time for the most recently used areas to cool.

  • Center the canner on the largest surface cooking area or element. On electric cooktops, canners should not extend more than 1/2″ (1.3 cm) beyond the surface cooking area or element.
  • Do not place canner on 2 surface cooking areas or elements at the same time.
  • On ceramic glass models, use only flat-bottomed canners to avoid damage to the cooktop and elements.
  • For more information, contact your local agricultural extension office, or refer to published home canning guides. Companies that manufacture home canning products can also offer assistance.

OVEN USE

Odors and smoke are normal when the oven is used the first few times or when it is heavily soiled.
IMPORTANT: The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off. Exposure to fumes may result in the death of certain birds. Always move birds to another closed and well-ventilated room.
NOTE: The convection fan will shut off when the oven door is opened. If the oven door remains open for too long, the heating
elements will shut off until the oven door is closed. All timers, including any active Cook Time or Timed Cook functions, will continue to count down.

Oven Temperature Control

IMPORTANT: Do not use a thermometer to measure oven temperature. Elements will cycle on and off as needed to provide consistent temperature but may run slightly hot or cool at any point in time due to this cycling. Most thermometers are slow to react to temperature change and will not provide an accurate reading due to this cycling.
The oven provides accurate temperatures; however, it may cook faster or slower than your previous oven, so the temperature can
be adjusted to personalize it for your cooking needs. It can be changed in Fahrenheit or Celsius.

Positioning Racks and Bakeware

To move a rack, pull it out to the stop position, raise the front edge, and then lift it out. Use the following illustration and chart as a guide for positioning racks

Rack Position Type of Food
5 Broiling/searing meats, hamburgers, steaks, or toast.
4 Broiling thicker cuts of meat, poultry, fish, frozen prepackaged foods, most baked goods, and casseroles.
3 Air fry basket, frozen prepackaged foods, most baked goods, and casseroles.
1 or 2 Large roasts or poultry

Multiple Rack Cooking
2-rack: Use rack positions 2 and 4 or 2 and 5.

Bakeware
To cook food evenly, hot air must be able to circulate. Allow
2″ (5 cm) of space around bakeware and oven walls. Make surethat no bakeware piece is directly over another.

Air Fry Basket

When using the Air Fry feature, position the air fry basket on top of a large baking sheet. Place basket and sheet in the middle of the oven to increase airflow and circulation. Avoid using more than one basket to avoid uneven cooking.

Baking and Roasting

Preheating
When beginning a Bake cycle, the oven will begin preheating after the Start is pressed. The oven will take approximately 12 to 15
minutes to reach 350°F (177°C) with all of the oven racks provided with your oven inside the oven cavity.

NOTE: On models with convection, the convection fan may run in the non-convection Bake mode to improve oven performance.
The convection fan will shut off when the oven door is opened. If the oven door remains open for too long, the heating elements will shut off until the oven door is closed. All timers, including any active Cook Time or Timed Cook functions, will continue to count down.

Temperature Management System
The Temperature Management System electronically regulates the oven heat levels during preheating and baking to maintain a precise temperature range for optimal cooking results. The bake and broil elements or burners cycle on and off in intervals. On convection range models, the fan will run while preheating and may be cycled on and off for short intervals during the bake to provide the best results. This feature is automatically activated when the oven is in use.
Before baking and roasting, position racks according to the “Positioning Racks and Bakeware” section. When roasting, it is not necessary to wait for the oven preheat cycle to end before putting food in unless it is recommended in the recipe.

Broiling

NOTE: The convection fan will shut off when the oven door is opened. If the oven door remains open for too long, the heating
elements will shut off until the oven door is closed. All timers, including any active Cook Time or Timed Cook functions, will continue to count down.
When broiling, preheat the oven for two minutes before putting food in unless recommended otherwise in the recipe. Position food on grid in a broiler pan, then place it in the center of the oven rack.
IMPORTANT: Close the door to ensure proper broiling temperature.
Changing the temperature when broiling allows more precise control when cooking. The lower the broil setting is, the slower the
cooking. Thicker cuts and unevenly shaped pieces of meat, fish, and poultry may cook better at lower broil settings. Use racks 4 or 5 for broiling. Refer to the “Positioning Racks and Bakeware” section for more information.
On lower settings, the broil element will cycle on and off to maintain the proper temperature.

  • For best results, use a broiler pan and grid. It is designed to drain juices and help avoid spatter and smoke.
If you would like to purchase a broiler pan, one may be ordered. Please refer to the Quick Start Guide for contact information.

NOTE: Odors and smoke are normal the first few times the oven is used or if the oven is heavily soiled.

Convection Baking, Roasting, and Air Frying

NOTE: The convection fan will shut off when the oven door is opened. If the oven door remains open for too long, the heating
elements will shut off until the oven door is closed. All timers, including any active Cook Time or Timed Cook functions, will continue to count down.
During convection baking, roasting or air frying, the bake and broil elements or burners cycle on and off in intervals to maintain the oven temperature while the fan circulates the hot air. If the oven door is opened during convection baking or roasting, the fan will turn off immediately. It will come back on when the oven door is closed.

Do air fryers Oven use a lot of electricity?

But in general, energy experts at Uswitch say an air fryer can be a cheaper way of cooking if it is smaller than your oven and is quick to heat up. This will typically be a newer model that is more energy efficient. Older air fryers that are bigger and slower to heat can still guzzle a lot of energy.

What are the disadvantages of Oven air fryer?

The downside Air-frying also produces high temperatures at a very rapid rate, thus making it extremely easy to burn food. And charred food may be carcinogenic. In addition, Cucuzza adds, because most devices cook 1 to 3 pounds of food at a time, it can be challenging to air-fry meals for a large family.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT DETERGENT

Use only High-Efficiency detergents. The package will be marked “HE” or “High Efficiency.” Low-water washing creates excessive sudsing with a non-HE detergent. Using non-HE detergent will likely result in longer cycle times and reduced rinsing performance. It may also result in component failure and, over time, the buildup of mold or mildew. HE detergents should be low-sudsing and quick-dispersing to produce the right amount of suds for the best performance. They should hold soil in suspension so it is not redeposited onto clean clothes. Not all detergents labeled as High Efficiency are identical in the formulation and their ability to reduce suds. For example, natural, organic, or homemade HE detergents may generate a high level of suds. If you use one of these and see an “Sd” or “Sud” error code appear in the display, consider using a different HE detergent. Always follow the detergent manufacturer’s instructions to determine the amount of detergent to use. Do not go over the Max line on the dispenser.

Adding Laundry Products

Adding HE detergent to basket:

Single-dose laundry packets, Oxitype boosters, color-safe bleach, or scented crystals can be added to the drum prior to adding laundry. When using single-dose laundry packets, make sure that the bulk dispenser is disabled (on some models) or off.
NOTE: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to determine the number of laundry products to use.

Adding liquid chlorine bleach to single-load dispenser:

Add liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. Do not overfill, dilute, or use more than 2⁄3 cup (165 mL). Do not
use color-safe bleach or Oxi in the same cycle as liquid chlorine bleach.

IMPORTANT:

Always measure liquid chlorine bleach. Use a measuring cup with a pour spout; do not guess.

  • Do not fill beyond the “MAX” line. Overfilling could cause garment damage.
  • Do not use thickened, easy-pour, or no-splash bleach when running the Clean Washer with afresh ® cycle, as excess suds may occur.
  • On some models: Do not add liquid chlorine bleach to the bulk dispenser.
  • Slowly close dispenser drawers. Make sure the drawers are closed completely (on some models).

Adding liquid fabric softener to single-load dispenser:
Pour a measured amount of liquid fabric softener into the liquid fabric softener compartment. Always follow the manufacturer’s directions for the correct amount of fabric softener, based on your load size. Disable the 1-Liter Load & Go™ dispenser if not used to dispense detergent (on some models). Fabric softener is always dispensed in the last rinse, even if Extra Rinse is selected.

IMPORTANT: Do not overfill, dilute, or use more than the manufacturer-recommended quantity of fabric softener. Do not fill
past the “MAX” line. The overfilling dispenser will cause the fabric softener to immediately dispense into washer.

  • Do not spill or drip any fabric softener onto the clothes.
  • Do not use liquid fabric softener dispenser balls in this washer. They will not dispense correctly.
  • Do not use fabric softener sheets, as they can stain the load.

Adding HE detergent to Optimal Dispense Drawer (on some models):

This compartment holds up to 14.3 oz. (424 ml) of liquid HE detergent allowing you to avoid having to refill detergent for
each load. Also, this will use just the right amount of detergent required for a particular load/cycle.
NOTE: Do not add single-dose laundry packets, Oxi-type boosters, color-safe bleach, or fabric softener crystals to dispensers. They will not dispense correctly.
Adding HE detergent to Load & Go™ dispenser (on some models):
Use only High Efficiency (HE) liquid detergents. The bulk dispensers will hold about 67.6 oz. (2 L) or 33.8 oz. (1 L) of liquid
HE detergent, depending on the dispenser, or enough for many loads of laundry.
To fill bulk dispensers (on some models):

Open the dispenser drawer by pulling on the handle at the base of the washer. If desired, the drawer can be completely removed
from the washer.
Locate the Load & Go™ bulk dispenser. Gently pull up on the tab located on the bulk dispenser lid to lift the fill door.

Fill to the “MAX” line (see illustrations at right) with HE liquid detergent or liquid fabric softener (1-liter dispenser only). Close fill door. It will click into place. Make sure the concentration setting is correct (see the online “Cycle Guide”).

It is recommended that you rinse out the Load & Go™ containers when refilling, when changing detergent types or concentrations, or when the washer will not be used for an extended period.
For instructions on cleaning the dispenser cartridge, see “Washer Care” in the “Washer Maintenance and Care” section of your Owner’s Manual.

Adding HE detergent to single-load dispenser:

Pour a measured amount of HE detergent into the detergent compartment. For powdered detergent, lift the selector to the high
position. For liquid detergent, push down the selector to the low position.
Do not overfill; adding too much detergent may cause detergent to be dispensed into the washer too early.

IMPORTANT:

  • Disable the Load & Go™ option before starting a single load (on some models).
  • Do not add a single-dose laundry packet to the dispenser drawer.
Powdered detergent: Liquid detergent:
Lift the selector to the high position. Add directly to the compartment. Push down the selector to the low position. Add directly to the compartment.

WASHER MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Cleaning the Washer Location
Keep the washer area clear and free from items that would block airflow. This includes clearing piles of laundry in front of the washer.
Water Inlet Hoses
Replace inlet hoses after 5 years of use to reduce the risk of hose failure. Periodically inspect and replace inlet hoses if bulges,
kinks, cuts, wear, or leaks are found.
When replacing your inlet hoses:

  • Mark the date of replacement on the label with a permanent marker.
  • Check that the old washers are not stuck on the washer inlet valves.
  • Use new washers in the new inlet hoses to ensure a proper seal.

Washer Care

Recommendations to Help Keep Your Washer
Clean and Performing at Its Best

  • Always use High Efficiency (HE) detergents and follow the HE detergent manufacturer’s instructions regarding the amount of HE detergent to use. Never use more than the recommended amount because that may increase the rate at which
detergent and soil residue accumulate inside your washer, which, in turn, may result in undesirable odor.
  • Use warm or hot water washers sometimes (not exclusively cold water washes), because they do a better job of controlling the rate at which soils and detergent accumulate.
  • Always leave the washer lid open between uses to help dry out the washer and prevent the buildup of odor-causing residue.
  • Periodically clean residue from all interior surfaces of the window. For better care, wipe the entire inside of the door with a damp cloth.

Cleaning Your Front-Loading Washer
Read these instructions completely before beginning the routine cleaning processes recommended below. This Washer
Maintenance Procedure should be performed, at a minimum, once per month or every 30 wash cycles, whichever occurs sooner, to control the rate at which soils and detergent may otherwise accumulate in your washer.

Cleaning the Door Seal

  1. Open the washer door and remove any clothing or items from the washer.
  2. Inspect the gray-colored seal between the door opening and the drum for stained areas, soil buildup, or lint. Pull back the seal to inspect all areas under the seal and to check for foreign objects or lint.
  3. If stained areas, soil buildup, or lint are found, wipe down these areas of the seal using either of the following two procedures:
    a. afresh ® Machine Cleaning Wipes Procedure:
    i. When the cycle is complete, gently pull back the rubber door seal and clean the entire surface with the textured side of an afresh ® Machine Cleaning Wipe.
    b. Dilute Liquid Chlorine Bleach Procedure:
    i. Mix a dilute bleach solution, using 3/4 cup (177 mL) of liquid chlorine bleach and 1 gallon (3.8 L) of warm tap water.
ii. Wipe the seal area with the dilute solution, using a damp cloth.
iii. Let stand for 5 minutes.
iv. Wipe down the area thoroughly with a dry cloth and let washer interior air dry with door open.

IMPORTANT:

  • Wear rubber gloves when cleaning with bleach.
  • Refer to the bleach manufacturer’s instructions for proper use.

Cleaning the Inside of the Washer
This washer has a special cycle that uses higher water volumes in combination with affresh ® Washer Cleaner or regular liquid
chlorine bleach to thoroughly clean the inside of the washer. Steam washer models also utilize steam to enhance cleaning in
this special cycle.
IMPORTANT: Do not use thickened, easy-pour, or no-splash bleach when running the Clean Washer with afresh ®
cycle as excess suds may occur.
NOTE: Read these instructions completely before beginning the cleaning process.
Begin Procedure

  1. Clean Washer with afresh ® Cycle Procedure (Recommended for best performance):
    a. Open the washer door and remove any clothing or items.
    b. Use an afresh ® Machine Cleaning Wipe or a soft, damp cloth or sponge to clean the inside door window.
    c. Add an affresh ® Washer Cleaner tablet to the washer drum.
    d. Do not add the fresh ® Washer Cleaner tablet to the dispenser drawer.
    e. Do not add any detergent or other chemical to the washer when following this procedure.
    f. Close the washer door.
    g. Select the Clean Washer with afresh ® cycle.
    h. On some models: Select the FanFresh ® /Fresh Hold ® / Fresh Spin™ option to help dry the washer interior after the cycle is complete.

    g. Touch and hold Start/Pause to begin the cycle. See the “Description of Clean Washer with afresh ® Cycle Operation” section.
NOTE: For best results, do not interrupt the cycle.
Description of Clean Washer with afresh ® Cycle Operation
    1. The Clean Washer with the afresh ® cycle will determine whether clothing or other items are in the washer.
    2. If no items are detected in the washer, it will proceed with the cycle. If any items are detected in the washer, “RL”(remove
load) will be displayed. The door will unlock. Open the washer and remove any garments from the washer drum.
    b. Touch Power to clear the “RL” code.
    c. Touch and hold Start/Pause to restart the cycle.
  3. Steam models only: During the first 20 minutes of the cycle, it will activate the steamer but the drum will not spin or fill with water. You may see condensation on the door window during this initial phase. If you are using an afresh
    a. ® Washer Cleaner tablet, it will not dissolve completely during the steam phase. This is normal. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open slightly to allow for better ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
    Cleaning the Dispensers
After a period of using your washer, you may find some residue buildup in the washer’s dispensers.
For the Single-Load or Optimal dispenser:
Remove the drawer and wipe the surfaces with an afresh ® Machine Cleaning Wipe or
a damp cloth, and towel dry either before or after you run the Clean Washer with afresh ®  cycle. Use an all-purpose surface cleaner, if needed.
For the Load & Go™ dispenser:
Lift the handle on the dispenser housing and pull to remove it from the washer cabinet; then rinse the dispenser thoroughly with running water. Wipe the outside dispenser surface with an afresh ®
Machine Cleaning Wipe or a damp cloth, and towel dry. Use an all-purpose surface cleaner, if needed.
Replace the dispenser in the washer cabinet and make sure that it is correctly seated.
    IMPORTANT: Dispensers are not dishwasher-safe.

Cleaning the Outside of the Washer

IMPORTANT: To avoid damaging the washer’s finish, do not use abrasive products.
Use an afresh ® Machine Cleaning Wipe or a soft, damp cloth or sponge to wipe up any spills. Occasionally wipe the outside of
your washer to help keep it looking new. Use an afresh ® Machine Cleaning Wipe or mild soap and water.
Clean Washer Cycle Reminder
NOTE: Not all models have the Clean Washer with an afresh ® cycle reminder light.
The Clean Washer with afresh ® message will flash at the end of a wash cycle when the washer has run 30 wash cycles. This is a reminder to run the Clean Washer with the afresh ® cycle.
If the Clean Washer with afresh ® cycle is not run, the message will stop flashing at the end of a wash cycle after running three more regular wash cycles. After 30 more wash cycles are completed, the Clean Washer with afresh ® message will again flash at the end of a wash cycle as a reminder.

PROGRAMMES
For choosing the appropriate programme for your kind of laundry, always respect the instructions on the care labels of the laundry. The value given in the tub symbol is the maximum temperature possible for washing the garment.
Mixed For washing lightly to normally soiled resilient garments in cotton, linen, synthetic fibres and mixed fibres.
White For washing normally to heavily soiled towels, underwear, table and bed linen, etc in resilient cotton and linen. Only when the temperature is selected at 90°C the cycle is provided with a prewash phase before main washing phase. In this case it is recommended to add detergent both, in the prewash and main wash section.
Cotton
Normally to heavily soiled and robust cottons .
Cotton For washing normally soiled cotton garments. At 60°C, this is the standard cotton programme and the most efficient in terms of water and energy consumption.
Bed Linen Use this programme to wash bed linen an towels in one single cycle. It optimises softner performance and helps you save time and energy. We recommend to use powder detergent.
Sport For washing lightly soiled sports clothing (tracksuits, shorts, etc.). For best results, we recommend not exceeding the maximum load indicated in the ,“`PROGRAMME CHART“. We recommend using liquid detergent , and adding the amount suitable for half-load.
Duvet Designed for washing eiderdown padded items such as double or single duvets, cushions and anoraks. It is recommended to load such padded items in the drum with the edges folded inwards and not to exceed ¾ of the drum’s volume. For optimal washing, we recommend using a liquid detergent. Steam Refresh This programme refreshes garments by removing bad odours and relaxing the fibres (1.5 kg, roughly 3 items). Insert dry items only (that are not dirty) and select programme “Steam Refresh”. Garments will be a little damp at the end of the cycle and can be worn after a few minutes. The “Steam Refresh” programme makes ironing easier. ! Not recommended for wool or silk garments. ! Do not add softeners or detergents.
Spin & Drain Spins the load then empties the water. For resilient garments. If you exclude the spin cycle, the machine will drain only
Rinse & Spin Rinses and the spins. For resilient garments.
Rapid 30 min For washing lightly soiled garments quickly. This cycle lasts only 30 minutes, saving time and energy.
Colours 15° This cycle helps protect colours by washing in cold water (15°C) and uses less energy to heat the water while still offering satisfactory wash results. Suitable for lightly soiled, ustained garments. This cycle offers wash results comparable to 40°c mixed at just 15°C.
Silk Use this cycle to wash all silk garments. We recommend the use of special detergent which has been designed to wash delicate clothes.
Wool All wool garments can be washed using programme,”Wool” even those carryng the “hand-wash only ” label. For best results, use special detergents and do not exceed max kg declaration of laundry.
Delicates For washing particularly delicate garments. Preferably turn garments inside out before washing.
Synthetics For washing soiled garments made from synthetic fibres (such as polyester, polyacrylic, viscose, etc.) or cotton/synthetic blends.

Delicates (wash small items like nylon stockings and items with hooks like bras in a cloth bag or pillow case with zip). Empty all pockets Objects like coins or lighters can damage your laundry as well as the drum. Follow the dosage recommendation / additives It optimizes the cleaning result, it avoids irritating residues of surplus detergent in your laundry and it saves money by avoiding waste of surplus detergent Use low temperature and longer duration The most efficient programmes in terms of energy consumption are generally those that perform at lower temperatures and longer duration. Observe the load sizes Load your washing machine up to the capacity indicated in the “PROGRAMME CHART” table to save water and energy. Noise and remaining moisture content They are influenced by the spinning speed: the higher the spinning speed in the spinning phase, the higher the noise and the lower the remaining moisture content.
The product can be purchased by contacting the technical assistance service or through the website www.whirlpool.eu. Whirlpool declines all liability for any damages to the appliance caused by the use of other cleaning products for washing machines available on the market.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Cleaning the outside of the washing machine Use a soft damp cloth to clean the outer parts of the washing machine. Do not use glass or general purpose cleaners, scouring powder or similar to clean the control panel these substances might damage the printing
Checking the water supply hose Check the inlet hose regularly for brittleness and cracks. If damaged, replace it by a new hose available through our After-Sales Service or your specialist dealer. Depending on the hose type: If the inlet hose has a transparent coating, periodically check if the colour intensifies locally. If yes, the hose may have a leak and should be replaced.
Cleaning the water filter / draining residual water If you used a hot wash programme, wait until the water has cooled down before draining any water.
Cleaning the detergent dispenser Remove the detergent dispenser by pressing on the release button and at the same time pulling out the detergent dispenser. Remove the insert from the detergent dispenser, as well as the insert of the softener compartment. Clean all parts under running water, removing all detergent or softener residues. Wipe the parts dry with a soft cloth. Reinstall the detergent dispenser and push it back into the detergent compartment.

Consider cleaning the whirlpool system with whirlpool cleaning solution repeatedly until the black flakes disappear. Soap scum, hair, dead skin, skin care products, oil, grease and/or bacteria can contaminate your whirlpool system, it is important to clean regularly.

Consider cleaning the whirlpool system using a cup of chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite) and the minimum amount of warm or hot water to activate the (water-level sensor) whirlpool system, in between regular cleanings with whirlpool cleaning solution. Thoroughly flush and rinse the bathtub and whirlpool system before use. (This is not meant as a substitute for whirlpool cleaning solution)

The drain can be clogged by hair or soap scum and should be cleaned regularly. Cleaning schedule is based off usage conditions; monitor time frame for any slowing of drainage, and then set cleaning schedule.

Poor maintenance, infrequent, or irregular cleaning can cause damage to the faucets or jets. Cleaning schedule is based off usage conditions; generally, more frequent light cleanings are better than less frequent, heavy cleanings.

When cleaning the chrome parts, do not use cleaning compounds or instruments with abrasives or harsh chemicals. Do not try to remove stains with hard objects, such as blades or screwdrivers.

When cleaning the acrylic surfaces of the bathtub, use a soft sponge and a detergent without ammonia, acetone or other harsh chemicals, to prevent surfaces from getting dulled or damaged.
Dulled surfaces can be refinished with an acrylic polishing compound (follow instructions of polishing compound); first spot test in a non-visible surface area.

Warning: The use of cleaning materials other than those recommended by the manufacturer can result in damage to the bathtub, whirlpool apparatus, or other hardware. Spot test in non-visible area.

Warning: Any service, adjustment or repair is only recommended by an experienced professional. Only consider a licensed professional for all installation, servicing or repair work.
