Roku® Remote important Product Information

Introduction

The Roku Remote which accompanies this Important Product Information (“Remote”) provides you with the ability to control your compatible Roku streaming player (“Player”)’. All you need to do is set up a Roku account, activate your Player and pair your Remote with the Player as set forth in the Quick Start Guide for your Player.

NOTE: You will need a High-Speed HDMI® Cable for HD TVs or a Premium High-Speed HDMI® Cable for 4K and HDR TVs.

STEP 1: Connect to TV

Connect your streaming player to an HDMI port on the back of your TV using a High Speed HDMI® Cable (not included). To stream 4K or HDR choose an HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2.

Use a Premium High Speed HDMI® Cable (not included). For help determining which port supports HDCP 2.2, visit go.roku.com/hdcp

STEP 2: Connect to the power

Use the included power adapter to connect your streaming player to a wall outlet.

STEP 3: Power on TV and

select input Use your TV remote to power on your TV and select the input you used to connect your streaming player. For help on how to select the correct input, visit go.roku.com/selectinput

STEP 4:Insert batteries

On the back side of the remote, slide open the battery cover. Insert included batteries placing the negative (-) ends in fi rst. Your remote should pair with your streaming player automatically. For help pairing your remote, visit go.roku.com/remotehelp

NOTE: To enable the private listening feature of your streaming player, plug the headphones into your Roku remote. Your TV will be muted when headphones are plugged in.

STEP 5: On-screen setup and activation

Follow the instructions on your TV screen. Activate your streaming player by using your computer or smartphone to link to a Roku account.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you type roku.com/link into the browser being careful not to misspell or add extra characters. Typing this incorrectly may take you to fraudulent websites.

Common questions

Why do I need to create a Roku account?

Before you can start streaming, channels must be downloaded and installed on your streaming player. To accomplish this, your streaming player must be linked to a Roku account. With a Roku account, not only can you add channels from the Roku Channel Store, but you can also manage your subscriptions, view your purchase history, and update payment method. Why do I need to enter a credit card?

Saving a payment method makes it easy to rent or buy movies on demand, subscribe to popular services, and enroll in free trials. Charges will not be made without your authorization. For more information, visit go.roku.com/paymenthelp

What should I do if my streaming player is not connecting to my wireless network?

Your streaming player connects to your wireless network the same as your laptop or smartphone. If these other devices can access the internet, then your streaming player should be able to do the same. Make sure to select the same network name, and enter the same password you use with the other devices. Remember that passwords are case-sensitive and easy to enter incorrectly. Can I take my Roku streaming player with me when I travel?

Yes. You can bring your streaming player and watch your favorite entertainment when you travel. Remember to also bring the power adapter, remote and any cables you use to connect your streaming player at home and make sure your destination has a good internet connection. You will also need a computer or smartphone with wireless capabilities and a web browser to help get your streaming player connected to the network. Safety Precautions/Handling

To help ensure the safe and enjoyable operation of the Remote. please follow these guidelines:
Observe all warnings. precautions and instructions.
Do not operate the Remote using any vigorous or forceful motions or gestures.
Keep the Remote and headphones out of the reach of small children.
Do not allow liquid. small particles or other foreign objects to get into the Remote or headphones.
Do not expose the Remote and headphones to liquid, smoke or steam.
Do not expose the Remote or headphones to high temperatures. high humidity or direct sunlight.

Important Tips About Battery Handling

Inserting batteries: Be sure to insert each
battery negative (-) side ﬁrst. pushing it into
the coil and then into the compartment. Never

Replacing batteries: Always replace dead batteries with two brand-new batteries from the same manufacturer. Never use damaged batteries.

Disposal of batteries: Always dispose of batteries following federal guidelines or local ordinances. Do not dispose of used batteries in an open ﬁre.

Warning Sign: If your Remote gets warm/hot during use. discontinue use and contact Roku Customer Support immediately at supportroku. com. There is a risk of explosion if a battery is replaced by an incorrect type.

Voice Search

For Remotes that support voice search. the Remote allows you to use your voice to search for content on certain Players using voice search.

Roku Express User Guide [R1012]

Introduction

The Roku streaming player which accompanies this Important Product Information (“Player”) allows you to stream online entertainment to your TV. A Roku account is required to activate your Player. When you sign up for a Roku account, you will be asked to provide your contact information and a payment method so that you can easily rent movies or sign-up for additional services. Your authorization is required for any such charges. There are no equipment rental fees for owning a Player. However, a paid subscription or other form of payment may be required to access some channels or content. Channel availability is subject to change and varies by country. Check with each channel provider for specific bandwidth requirements to stream 720p, 1080p HD and 4K (if your Player supports 4K) content.

Quick Setup

1. Connect your Roku® streaming player to your TV with the included High-Speed HDMI® Cable or use your own cable.

Or, connect with the included composite cable.

2. For best start-up time, use the included power adapter to connect to a wall outlet.

Or, connect the included USB cable to the USB port on your TV. USB power may not work with all TVs.

If you see a red light on your Roku player then the USB port on your TV is not providing enough power. Use the power adapter instead.

3. Insert the provided batteries into your remote, (-) negative side first.

4. Remote must be within line of sight of your streaming player.

What you need

Installing the Stands

Do not install the stands if you want to wall mount your TV. See your wall mount instructions or chat live at www.onntvsupport.com.

You will need: a Phillips screwdriver (not included)

Place the TV screen down on a clean, flat, soft surface (e.g.: blanket) to prevent scratches or damage to the screen.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to attach each stand with the provided screws.
Place the TV upright on a stable, level surface.

Connecting Devices

Connecting to Power

After connecting all your devices, connect the power cord to a power outlet. The TV enters standby mode and its indicator light turns red.

Introduction

Your authorization is required for any such charges. There are no equipment rental fees for owning a Player. However, a paid subscription or other form of payment may be required to access some channels or content. Channel availability is subject to change and varies by country. Check with each channel provider for specific bandwidth requirements to stream SD, 720p, 1080p HD, 4K and HDR (if your player supports 4K and/or HDR) content.

Connect to TV

Use the included High-Speed HDMI® Cable (or your own HDMI® cable) to connect your streaming player to your TV. For TVs that don’t have an HDMI connector, use the included composite cable.

NOTE: Streaming will be in standard definition.

For the best streaming experience, use the included USB power cable and power adapter to connect your streaming player to a wall outlet.

Or use the included USB power cable to connect to the USB port on your TV. NOTE: Not all TV USB ports provide enough power.

Position Roku streaming player

Place the streaming player near your TV. The streaming player can be attached to your TV with the included double-sided adhesive strip. The strip is for single use and can be removed.

DO make sure that the front of your streaming player has direct line of sight with your remote control.

DO NOT place your streaming player behind the TV. DO NOT place inside a TV cabinet. Doing so may cause overheating.

The Player has been designed with the highest concern for safety. However, any electrical device, if used improperly, has the potential for causing fire, electrical shock, property damage or personal injury. To help ensure accident-free operation, follow these guidelines:

Observe all warnings, precautions and instructions.
Regularly inspect the AC power adapter for damage.
Stop use, unplug the AC power adapter from the electrical outlet and disconnect any other cables immediately, if the Player has been damaged, cracked or punctured, or if the Player functions in an abnormal manner, produces unusual sounds or smells or becomes too hot to touch.

Use and Handling

Do not operate the remote using any vigorous or forceful motions or gestures.
The remote control and the headphones are not toys. If your Player comes with a remote control and/or headphones, keep them both out of reach of children under the age of six.
The product packaging may include plastic bags, cable ties and fasteners. Dispose of these properly and keep them out of reach of children, as they could present a choking hazard.
Do not touch the Player or connected cables during an electrical storm.
Do not allow liquid, small particles or other foreign objects to get into the Player or accessories.
Do not expose the Player or accessories to liquid, smoke or steam.
Do not expose the Player or accessories to high temperatures, high humidity or direct sunlight.
Do not place the Player or the remote on the floor or in a place where they may cause someone to trip or stumble.
Permanent hearing loss may occur if the Player or earpieces are used at high volume. To prevent possible hearing loss, limit the amount of time you use the Player or any earpieces at high volume.

The applicable software license terms for the Player is at www.roku.com/legal. Use of the Player constitutes your agreement to those license terms and the limited warranty set forth below for your country. If you disagree and you are within the allowable time period for returns under Roku’s return policy (if purchased from Roku) or the applicable return policy of the authorized distributor (if purchased from such distributor), you may return the Player to the place where you obtained it for a refund, subject to the terms of the applicable return policy.

Limited Warranty & Warranty Service Process

For any Player purchased and delivered to end users in the US, Roku warrants the Player hardware against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (as shown by the date on the applicable sales receipt) if used in accordance with the user documentation provided with the Player; provided that, this warranty shall be available only to the purchaser who originally purchased the Player from Roku or from one of its authorized resellers or distributors. If Roku determines the Player’s hardware is defective, Roku will either repair the Player or replace it with a new or rebuilt unit, at Roku’s option. Connect to Power

- Connect your Roku Smart Soundbar to the HDMI port on your TV labeled “ARC” with the
  included cable.
  Don’t see an HDMI-ARC port? Use the optical cable along with the HDMI Cable to connect.

What is HDMI-CEC?
Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) allows device commands to be sent over the same HDMI Cable as audio and video.

What is ARC?
Audio Return Channel (ARC) sends audio from your TV to the Roku Smart Soundbar, using the HDMI Cable. Connect the Roku Smart Soundbar to the HDMI port labelled “ARC” on your TV.

How do I enable HDMI-CEC and ARC on my TV?
While some TVs automatically enable these features, others require you to enable them via a settings menu. TV manufacturers use different names for these settings, so refer to your TV manual or visit go.roku.com/hdmihelp

Sound Settings

Automatic Volume Leveling—Helps keep your volume consistent and quiets loud commercials.
Speech Clarity—Improves clarity of voices so your favorite TV is easier to hear.
Night Mode—Lowers loud scenes while boosting quiet ones so you don’t wake the house.

Using Sound Settings

While streaming video, press .

Roku Streaming Stick+ set up

Background

Your Roku Streaming Stick+ model 3810 supports 720p HD, 1080p Full HD, 4K Ultra HD (UHD) and 4K Ultra HD HDR (High Dynamic Range) and ships with an Enhanced “point-anywhere” remote control with TV power and volume buttons, and voice search. This article describes the product in more detail and outlines the setup steps.

Note: The power connector is located on the side of the Roku Streaming Stick+ (see below). If the power connector is located on the end of your device, you have a Roku Streaming Stick and it requires a for setup.

Will the Roku Streaming Stick+ work with my TV?

Your Roku Streaming Stick+ will work with any television with an HDMI® connection and connects directly to the TV’s HDMI port.

However, you will not be able to take advantage of without a 4K compatible TV, or without a 4K HDR compatible TV. A compatible television is not the only requirement to stream movies and TV shows in 4K or 4K HDR; learn more about or .

If your Roku Streaming Stick+ will not fit in your TV’s HDMI port, then you may wish to get a .

What is the advanced wireless receiver?

The advanced wireless receiver is part of the USB power cable that must be attached to your Roku Streaming Stick+. It allows your Roku Streaming Stick+ to connect your wireless network and the internet so you can stream movies, TV shows and more.

The advanced wireless receiver is designed to reduce wireless interference providing a faster and more reliable connection. Power is provided to your Streaming Stick+ by connecting the advanced wireless receiver to the USB port on your TV, or preferably, a wall outlet (when used with the included USB power extender cable and power adapter).

How do I connect my Roku Streaming Stick+?

Use the diagrams below as a guide to help connect your Roku Streaming Stick+. Make sure all connections are secure and firmly attached.
