Insert 3 “M” alkaline batteries in the battery compartment with the (-) terminals of the batteries toward the (-) spring contacts in the battery • Note: Be sure that (+) and (-) terminals on each battery match the (+) and (-) contacts shown on the compartment and the line drawing. • Caution: Do not mix new and old batteries. Do not mix alkaline and standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries. Replace the battery compartment lid and while holding in place, switch the unit on to test the operation. If the unit lights up, you can secure the lid with the two Lantern slide switch positions – Always On to left / Off in the center / 8 hr repeating timer to the right. • Note: If left on, Lantern will run until batteries are • Note: In timer position, Lantern will turn off automatically after eight hours and turn back on again the next day at the same time.
