Troubleshooting

If the unit is not charging: Make sure the power cable is properly connected to the power input and the power outlet.
If the sound is distorted: Try lowering the volume control of your sound source.
If there is too much bass: Try adjusting the tone or EQ control on your sound source to lower the bass level. This will allow you to play the music louder before clipping (distortion) occurs.

If you cannot connect your audio device to Pathfinder 280˚ via Bluetooth:

  • Have your audio device (e.g., smartphone or tablet) and Pathfinder™ 280˚ as close together as possible while trying to connect. Make sure both the audio device and Pathfinder™ 280˚ are unobstructed by walls, furniture, etc.
  • Reset the Bluetooth connection on Pathfinder™ 280˚ to disconnect Pathfinder™ 280˚ from any other audio device and restart the search process. If this does not work right away, power off Pathfinder™ 280˚ and then power it back on. See Pairing a Bluetooth Device for more information.
  • Reset the Bluetooth connection on your audio device by turning Bluetooth off and back on. You can find this under the Bluetooth menu in the Settings for your phone or another audio device.
If this does not work, and you have connected to Pathfinder™ 280˚ before, find Pathfinder™ 280˚ in the list of available or previously connected devices in your audio device’s Bluetooth menu, tap the “gear” or “i” icon located next to it, and then select Unpair or Forget. Turn Pathfinder™ 280˚ off and back on and try pairing again once it reappears in the list of your available devices.
Note: If Pathfinder™ 280˚ has been paired to another audio device recently that is still within range, you may need to repeat this process with that audio device to fully disconnect.

If you experience audio dropouts while playing music from a Bluetooth device, this may be happening because your unit is trying to link to another speaker. This can occur if you power off a speaker that was linked to your unit or if you have just turned on your unit and it is in Stereo-Link mode. To stop the audio dropouts, exit Stereo-Link mode by double-pressing the Link button. Alternatively, you can wait for your unit to link to another speaker if there is one within range.

If you would like to stop your speaker from automatically linking when you power it on, make sure you double-press the Link button to exit Stereo-Link mode before you power it off.

If apparatus contains a coin/button-cell battery: Warning: Do not ingest the battery–chemical burn hazard. The remote control supplied with this product contains a coin/button-cell battery. If the coin/button cell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.

Disposal of Batteries (if applicable):

  • Never dispose of any types of batteries in fire or near excessive heat or direct sunlight. Overheated batteries can rupture or explode.
  •  If you are unsure of how or where to dispose of a battery, refer to your local ordinances for the proper location, method, etc.
  •  Alkaline batteries & lithium button cell batteries: You can safely dispose of alkaline and lithium button cell batteries with normal household waste. They do not pose a health or environmental risk during normal use or disposal. (Alkaline batteries are composed primarily of common metals like steel, zinc, and manganese.)
Do not dispose of large amounts of alkaline or lithium button cell batteries in a group. Used batteries are often not completely “dead.” Grouping them together can bring these “live” batteries into contact with one another, creating safety risks. To avoid this, insulate each battery with tape or other non-conductive material to ensure it does not discharge. Proven cost-effective and environmentally safe recycling processes are not yet universally available for alkaline and lithium button cell batteries. Some communities offer recycling or collection of these batteries. For more information, refer to your local ordinances or contact your local government.

Rechargeable Batteries

Rechargeable lead-acid batteries are the same type used in automobiles. As with your car battery, how you use this battery has a significant impact on its lifespan. With proper use and treatment, a lead-acid battery can last for years. Here are some recommendations for getting the longest life from the internal battery.

General Usage
Fully charge the battery before using it.
Charge the battery completely after each use.
Storage
For best product longevity, do not store at exceedingly hot (greater than 90°F/32°C) or exceedingly cold (less than 32°F/0°C)  temperatures.
It is acceptable to leave your sound system plugged in. This will not overcharge the battery.
If you leave the battery level low and do not charge it for 3 months, it may permanently lose capacity.
Repair
If the battery fails to charge, check your fuse near the power cable input. If your fuse is intact and it still will not charge, contact ION Audio at ionaudio.com.
Disposal
Bring the unit to a recycling center or dispose of it in accordance with local ordinances.

Outdoor Use and Care

Though Explorer Extreme is water-resistant and able to tolerate splashing water, please review the tips below to get the best performance from Explorer Extreme:

These will interfere with the Qi charging.
  • Some thick protective cases may inhibit the device from Qi charging.
  • If your phone vibrates, it might shift off of the Qi landing pad. It is encouraged to turn off ‘vibrate’ while Qi charging.
  • Qi charging may not engage if the device is simultaneously connected to a USB port.
  • It is normal for your phone to get warmer while charging. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, certain phones may have software designed to limit charging above 80 percent.
  • It is recommended to charge in a cool location to optimize charging times.

  4. To unpair the Bluetooth device, press and release the Bluetooth button on the master speaker.
To disconnect, double press the Play/Pause/Link button on one of the two speakers.

Troubleshooting

If the unit is not charging: Make sure the power cable is properly connected to the power input and the power outlet.
If the sound is distorted: Try lowering the volume control of your sound source, musical instrument, or microphone. Also, try to reduce
the overall volume of Explorer Extreme using the Master Volume knob.
If there is too much bass: Try adjusting the tone or EQ control on your sound source to lower the bass level. This will allow you to play
the music louder before clipping (distortion) occurs.
If there is poor AM reception: When you have a Bluetooth device that is connected, disconnect your Bluetooth device in order to listen to AM radio. To adjust AM reception, move the entire unit.
If there is a high-pitched whistling noise when using microphones: This is probably feedback. Point the microphone away from the
speaker.
If you can’t hear the microphone over the music volume: Turn down the music volume from your source.
If you can’t play music from a flash drive: The USB port is only for charging USB devices.
If you cannot connect your audio device to Explorer Extreme via Bluetooth:

  • Have your audio device (e.g., smartphone or tablet) and Explorer Extreme as close together as possible while trying to connect. Make sure both the audio device and Explorer Extreme are unobstructed by walls, furniture, etc.
  • Reset the Bluetooth connection on Explorer Extreme to disconnect Explorer Extreme from any other audio device and restart the search process. If this does not work right away, power off Explorer Extreme and then power it back on. See Pairing a Bluetooth Device for more information.
  • Reset the Bluetooth connection on your audio device by turning Bluetooth off and back on. You can find this under the Bluetooth menu in the Settings for your phone or another audio device.
If this does not work, and you have connected to Explorer Extreme before, find Explorer Extreme in the list of available or previously connected devices in your audio device’s Bluetooth menu, tap the “gear” or “i” icon located next to it, and then select Unpair or forget. Turn Explorer Extreme off and back on and try pairing again once it reappears in the list of your available devices.
Note: If Explorer Extreme has been paired to another audio device recently that is still within range, you may need to repeat this process with that audio device to fully disconnect.

Alternatively, you can wait for your unit to link to another Explorer Extreme speaker if there is one within range.

If you would like to stop your speaker from automatically linking when you power it on, make sure you double-press the Link button to exit Stereo-Link mode before you power it off.

Setup

Items not listed under Introduction > Box Contents are sold separately.

Installation

Insta Sound may be used freestanding or mounted. When used freestanding, the feet on the bottom of the speaker allow Insta Sound to sit comfortably on any flat surface. To mount Insta Sound using the included wall mount, follow the instructions below.
To use Insta Sound with the included wall mount, first, inspect the area where you would like to install the speakers. Confirm that the surface you are mounting Insta Sound on can safely hold the weight of the speaker. If you are unsure whether you can safely install Insta Sound in your desired location,  please consult a professional contractor.
To install the wall mount:
Note: It is recommended to install the mount so that the post is pointing straight up. Since the speaker is designed to easily slide off/on the post, do not install with the post at an extreme angle, parallel with the ground, or pointing towards the ground as the speaker will slide off of the post and cause damage.

  1. Insert screws into the 4 holes on the wall mount base. Fully tighten all screws so the wall-mount base is flush with the surface before placing the speaker on the mount. Do not use the included screws to mount Insta Sound on surfaces such as concrete or drywall, as these may require special tools and/or hardware.
  2. Slide Insta Sound onto the mount so that the mounting post is fully inserted into the mounting hole on the bottom of the speaker. Make sure it is unobstructed on all sides for optimal performance.

Note: The posts have notches that match up with the grooves at the base of the hole on the speaker to help pivot/rotate the speaker to a fixed position/angle.

Outdoor Use and Care

Though Insta Sound is water-resistant and able to tolerate splashing water, please review the tips below to get the best performance from Insta Sound:

  • Insta Sound must only be used outdoors with power outlets or extension cords that are rated for outdoor use.
  • Bring Insta Sound indoors during extreme weather.
  • Please do not place Insta Sound in standing water.
  • Please do not connect the charging adapter to Insta Sound in a wet environment. Make sure the charging adapter input, charging adapter, and power outlet are all completely dry before making any connections.
  • Make sure the connection between the prongs of the charging adapter and the power outlet is secure and sealed according to your power outlet’s specifications.
  • WARNING: Keep any non-water-resistant devices (phones, music players, etc.) in a dry place where they will not be affected by water and cause a risk of electric shock.

Stereo-Link™ and Bluetooth Connecting to Insta Sound

  1.  Power on each Insta Sound by pressing and releasing their power buttons. You will hear “Powering On” for confirmation. *
  2. The 2 speakers will automatically initiate the wireless stereo linking process. The speakers will search for each other indicated by their blinking yellow  LEDs. Once the stereo pair is successfully linked, you will hear “Connected”, the yellow LEDs will be solid, and the “master” speaker’s blue LED will blink to indicate it is in Bluetooth pairing mode.
This process may take up to 2 minutes the first time two speakers are linked. Speakers that were previously linked will relink automatically in seconds if powered on in a range of one another.
Note: Insta Sound speakers should be within 30 ft. (9 m) of each other to Link properly.
  3. When the stereo link is confirmed by the solid yellow LED, the blue LED on the “master” speaker will begin to blink to indicate that it is ready to pair with your Bluetooth device.
Note: The Left channel will be the “master” speaker and the unit from which the Bluetooth range will be determined.
  4. On your Bluetooth device, navigate to your Bluetooth settings menu, find Insta Sound, and connect. Once the Bluetooth connection is made, the blue  LED will be lit solid. You will hear “Paired” for confirmation.

Note: If you experience trouble in connecting, select “Forget this Device” for Insta Sound on your Bluetooth device and try to connect again.
If your Bluetooth device is not able to connect to Insta Sound, while powered on, press and hold the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds to break previous  Bluetooth connections. Press and hold the Reset button for 5 seconds to reset the device. This will clear the memory of existing paired Bluetooth devices.

Single Speaker Mode

If you want to use only 1 Insta Sound speaker, you can enter Single Speaker mode. While the unit is powered off, press and hold the Power button on the speaker. After the Insta Sound powers on, while still holding the Power button, press and hold the Bluetooth button for 2seconds. The yellow LED will be unlit, and the Blue LED will blink to confirm the speaker is now in Single Speaker mode. Proceed to connect to Insta Sound in your Bluetooth device’s

  • General Usage:  Fully charge the battery before using it.
  • Charge: the battery completely after each use.
  • Storage: For best product longevity, do not store at exceedingly hot (greater than 90°F/32°C) or exceedingly cold (less than 32°F/0°C) temperatures.
It is acceptable to leave your sound system plugged in. This will not overcharge the battery.
If you leave the battery level low and do not charge it for 6 months, it may
    permanently lose capacity.
  • Repair: If the battery fails to charge, check your fuse near the power cable input. If your fuse is intact and it still will not charge, contact ION Audio at ionaudio.com.
Disposal:  Bring the unit to a recycling center or dispose of in accordance with local ordinances.

Quick Setup

  • Make sure all items listed in the Box Contents are included in the box.
  • Read the Safety & Warranty Manual before using the product.
  • Make sure the battery is completely charged prior to first use for maximum battery life.
  • Study the Connection Diagram.
  • Ensure the Master Volume on Tailgater Plus is at zero.
  • Connect your devices.

Outdoor Use and Care

Though Tahiti TM Speaker is water-resistant and able to tolerate splashing water, please review the tips below to get the best performance from Tahiti TM Speaker:

  • Tahiti TM Speaker must only be used outdoors with power outlets or extension cords that are rated for outdoor use.
  • Bring Tahiti TM Speaker indoors during extreme weather.
  • Please do not place Tahiti TM Speaker in standing water.
  • Please do not connect the power adapter to Tahiti TM Speaker in a wet environment. Make sure the power input, power adapter, and power outlet are all completely dry before making any connections.
  • WARNING: Keep any non-water-resistant devices (phones, music players, etc.) in a dry place where they will not be affected by water and cause a risk of electric shock.

Charging

For the fastest charging, power off Tahiti TM Speaker and use the included micro-USB cable to connect the speaker to (A) a USB power adapter (DC 5V 2A, not included) connected to a power outlet, or (B) your computer (powered on). Tahiti TM Speaker’s battery life can also be prolonged between charges using the solar panel. For best results, place Tahiti TM Speaker in an area that receives at least 3 hours of direct sunlight a day. The rate of charging depends on the amount of sunlight the solar panel receives. The unit will charge slower when receiving indirect sunlight.

Assembly

Tahiti TM Speaker may be used mounted using the included post; freestanding; or hanging using the handle.

Pole Mounted:

  1. Drive the entire spike portion of stake into the ground where you would like to install Tahiti TM Speaker. Important: If the ground where you would like to install Tahiti TM Speaker is hard or tough, use a shovel to loosen the soil prior to driving the ground stake. To avoid damaging the stake, do not directly strike it with a hammer. Instead, we recommend using a rubber mallet or using a flat object as a buffer between the hammer and stake.
  2. Attach a pole segment to the stake, and then attach a pole connector to the top of the pole segment. Add another pole connector to the previous pole segment, and repeat until three-pole segments have been connected for each speaker, or until the desired height is reached.
Note: To ensure stability, make sure all pieces are connected together tightly. Do not apply downward pressure to the poles to drive the stake into the ground.
  3. When the pole segments are connected, add the threaded tube cap on the top of the last pole segment. Place Tahiti TM Speaker so that the hole at the bottom of the speaker is in line with the threads at top of the pole mount. Gently screw Tahiti TM Speaker onto the threaded cap until it is secure. Do not overtighten.
  4. Before attempting to move Tahiti TM Speaker, always remove the speaker from the pole mount first. Hold the top-most section of the pole with one hand and gently unscrew Tahiti TM Speaker until it is separated from the pole mount.

Tip: Tahiti TM Speaker can sync audio with other Multi-Sync TM -compatible ION Audio speakers. To find out more, visit ionaudio.com.

Troubleshooting

If the unit is not charging:
Make sure the micro-USB cable is properly connected to the power input, the power adapter and the power outlet. If using the solar panel to prolong battery life between charges, make sure the unit is placed in an area that receives at least 3 hours of direct sunlight a day.
If the sound is distorted: Try lowering the volume control of your sound source. If there is too much bass: Try adjusting the tone or EQ control on your sound source to lower the bass level. This will allow you to play the music louder before clipping (distortion) occurs.

If you cannot connect your audio device to Tahiti Speaker via Bluetooth:

  • Have your audio device (e.g., smartphone or tablet) and Tahiti TM TM Speaker as close together as possible while trying to connect. Make sure both the audio device and Tahiti TM Speaker are unobstructed by walls, furniture, etc.
  • Reset the Bluetooth connection on Tahiti TM Speaker to disconnect Tahiti TM Speaker from any other audio device and restart the search process. If this does not work right away, power off Tahiti Speaker and then power it back on. See Bluetooth Connecting with Tahiti Speaker for more information.
  • Reset the Bluetooth connection on your audio device by turning Bluetooth off and back on. You can find this under the Bluetooth menu in the Settings for your phone or another audio device.
If this does not work, and you have connected to Tahiti TMSpeaker before, find Tahiti TM Speaker in the list of available or previously connected devices in your audio device’s Bluetooth menu, tap the “gear” or “i” icon located next to it and then select Unpair or Forget. Turn Tahiti TM Speaker off and back on and try pairing again once it reappears in the list of your available devices.
Note: If Tahiti Speaker has been paired to another audio device recently that is still within range, you may need to repeat this process with that audio device to fully disconnect.

If you experience audio dropouts while playing music from a Bluetooth device, this may be happening because your unit is trying to link to another speaker. This can occur if you power off a speaker that was linked to your unit or if you have just turned on your unit and it is in Multi-Sync TM mode. To stop the audio dropouts, exit Multi-Sync TM mode by double-pressing the Link button. Alternatively, you can wait for your unit to link to another Tahiti TM Speaker if there is one within range.

If you would like to stop your speaker from automatically linking when you power it on, make sure you double-press the Bluetooth button to exit Multi-Sync TM mode before you power it off.
