Electrical Connection

  WARNING

This appliance should be properly grounded for your safety. The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a three-prong plug which mates with the standard three prong wall outlets to minimize the possibility of electrical shock.

Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third ground prong from the power cord supplied.

This refrigerator appliance requires a standard 220-240VAC 50/60Hz electrical outlet with three-prong ground.

This refrigerator appliance is not designed to be used with an inverter.

The cord should be secured behind the appliance and not left exposed or dangling to prevent accidental injury.

Never unplug the refrigerator by pulling the power cord. Always grip the plug firmly and pull straight out from the receptacle.

Do not use an extension cord with this appliance. If the power cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or service technician install an outlet near the appliance. Use of an extension cord can negatively affect the performance of the unit.

Improper use of the grounded plug can result in the risk of electrical shock. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by an authorized service center.

Climate Range
The information about the climate range of the appliance is provided on the rating plate. It indicates at which ambient temperature (that is, room temperature, in which the appliance is working) the operation of the appliance is optimal (proper).

Note:Given the limit values of the ambient temperature range for the climate classes for which the refrigerating appliance is designed and the fact that the internal temperatures could be affected by such factors as location of the refrigerating appliance, ambient temperature and the frequency of door opening, the setting of any temperature control device might have to be varied to allow for these factors, if appropriate.

If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

Locks (if available)
If your Refrigerator is fitted with a lock, keep the key out of reach and not in the vicinity of the appliance to prevent children being entrapped. When disposing of an old Refrigerator, break off any old locks or latches as a safeguard.

Product Features

  • Electronic temperature control
  • Reversible door

Due to technological innovation, the descriptions of the product in this manual may not be completely consistent with your refrigerator. Details are in accordance with the material item.

Preparations for use

Installation location

  1. Ventilation condition
The position you select for the refrigerator installation should be well-ventilated and has less hot air. Do not locate the refrigerator near a heat source such as cooker, boiler, and avoid it from direct sunlight, thus guaranteeing the refrigeration effect while saving energy consumption. Do not locate the refrigerator in the damp place, so as to prevent the refrigerator from rusting and leaking electricity. The result of the total space of the room in which the refrigerator is installed being divided by the refrigerant charge amount of the refrigerator shall not be less than 8 g/ M3.
Note: The amount of refrigerant charged for the refrigerator can be found on the nameplate.
  2. Heat dissipation space
When working, the refrigerator gives off heat to surroundings. Therefore, at least 300mm of free space should be spared at the top side, more than 100mm on both sides, and above 50mm at the back side of the refrigerator.
    Level ground
Place the refrigerator on the solid and flat ground (floor) to keep it stable, or else, it will give rise to vibration and noise. When the refrigerator is placed on such flooring materials as carpet, straw mat, polyvinyl chloride, the solid backing plates should be applied underneath the refrigerator, so as to prevent color change due to heat dissipation.

Unobstructed ventilation shall be maintained around the appliance or in an embedded structure.

Preparations for use

  1. Standing time
After the refrigerator is properly installed and well cleaned, do not switch it on immediately. Make sure to energize the refrigerator after more than 1 hour of standing, so as to ensure its normal operation.
  2. Cleaning
Confirm the accessory parts inside the refrigerator and wipe the inside with a soft cloth.
  3. Power-on
Insert the plug into the solid socket to start the compressor. After 1 hour, open the freezer door, if the temperature inside the freezer compartment drops obviously, it indicates the refrigeration system is working normally.
  4. Storage of food
After the refrigerator runs for a period of time, the internal temperature of the refrigerator will be automatically controlled according to the user’s temperature setting. After the refrigerator is fully cooled, put in foods, which usually need 2~3 hours to be fully cooled. In summer, when the temperature is high, it takes more than 4 hours for the foods to be fully cooled (Try to open the refrigerator door as less as possible before the internal temperature cools down).

If the refrigerator is installed in the moisture place, make sure to check whether the ground wire and leakage circuit breaker are normal. If vibration noises are produced due to the refrigerator contacting the wall or if the wall gets blackened by air convection around the compressor, move the refrigerator away from the wall. Setting up the refrigerator may cause jamming noise or image chaos to the mobile phone, fixed-line telephone, radio receiver, television set surrounding it, so try to keep the refrigerator as far away as possible in such case.

Functions

Temperature setting:
The temperature of the refrigerator is controlled by the control panel mounted in the fridge compartment.

  1. Under the normal operating condition (in spring and autumn), it is recommended to set at Mode 5-8.
  2. In summer when the ambient temperature is high, it is recommended to set at Mode 2-4, so as to guarantee the fridge and freezer temperatures by extending the refrigerator running time; and in winter when the ambient temperature is low, it is recommended to set at Mode 2-4 to avoid frequent start/stop of the refrigerator.
  3. Fast Cool: When this function is enabled, the fridge temperature and the freezer temperature can be reduced rapidly at the same time, so that foods can be kept in fresh condition with their nutrition not lost. The maximum running time of the fast-cool function is 26 hours, after which, the refrigerator will be restored to its previous mode that is set before the fast-cool function is enabled.

Note: If the indicator light ‘2’ or ‘5’ gets flickering, it indicates that the refrigerator has broken down. Please contact the after-sales personnel for on-site service as soon as possible.

Instructions for food storage

Precautions for use

  • The appliance might not operate consistently (there is possibility of defrosting or temperature becoming too warm in the frozen food compartment) when sited for an extended period of time below the cold limit of the temperature range for which the refrigerating appliance is designed
  • The information of climate type of the appliance is provided on the rating plate.
  • The internal temperature could be affected by such factors as the location of refrigerating appliance, ambient temperature, and frequency of door open, etc., and if appropriate, a warning that setting of any temperature control device might have to be varied to allow for these factors should be made.
  • Effervescent drinks should not be stored in the freezer compartment or the low temperature compartment, and some products such as water ices should not be consumed too cold.

Food storage location
Due to the cold air circulation in the refrigerator, the temperature of each area in the refrigerator is different, so different kinds of food should be placed in different areas.

The fresh food compartment is suitable for the storage of such foods as need not to be frozen, the cooked food, beer, eggs, some condiments that need cold preservation, milk, fruit juice, etc.

The crisper box is suitable for the preservation of vegetables, fruits, etc.
The freezer compartment is suitable for the storage of ice cream, frozen food and the foods to be preserved for a long time.

Use of the fresh food compartment
Set the temperature of the fresh food storage compartment between 2 ℃ ~ 8 ℃, and store the foods that are intended for short-term storage, or to be eaten at any time in the fresh food compartment.

Fridge shelf: When removing the shelf, lift it up first, and then pull it out; and when installing the shelf, place it into position before putting it down. (For the two-section shelf, push the first section to the rear end, and then pull the second section out). Keep the shelf rear flange upward, to prevent foods from contact the liner wall. When taking out or putting in the shelf, hold it firmly, and handle with care to avoid damage.

Crisper box: Pull out the crisper box for access to food. After using or cleaning the cover plate of the crisper box, be sure to put it back onto the crisper, so that the internal temperature of the crisper box will not be affected.

Cautions for food storage
You’d better clean the foods and wipe them dry before storing them inside the refrigerator. Before foods are put in the refrigerator, it is advisable to seal them up, so as to prevent water evaporation to keep fresh fruits and vegetables on one hand, and prevent taint of odor on the other hand.

Do not put too many or too weight foods inside the refrigerator. Keep enough space between foods; if too close, the cold air flow will be blocked, thus affecting the refrigeration effect. Do not store excessive or overweight foods, to avoid the shelf from being crushed. When storing the foods, keep a distance away from the inner wall; and do not place the water-rich foods too close to the fridge rear wall, lest they get frozen on the inner wall.

Categorized storage of foods:Foods should be stored by category, with the foods you eat every day placed in front of the shelf, so that the door open duration can be shortened and food spoilage due to expiration can be avoid.

Energy-saving tips: Allow the hot food cool down to the room temperature before putting it in the refrigerator. Put the frozen food in the fresh food compartment to thaw, using the low temperature of the frozen food to cool the fresh food, thus saving energy.

Storage of fruits and vegetables
In the case of refrigerating appliances with chill compartment, a statement to the effect that some types of fresh vegetables and fruits are sensitive to cold and therefore are not suitable for storage in this kind of compartment should be made.

Use of the frozen food storage compartment
The freezer temperature is controlled below -18 ℃, and it is advisable to store the food for long-term preservation in the freezer compartment, but the storage duration indicated on the food packaging should be adhered to.

The freezer drawers are used to store food that needs to be frozen. Fish and meat of large block size should be cut into small pieces and packed into fresh-keeping bags before they are evenly distributed inside the freezer drawers.

  • Allow the hot foods to cool down to the room temperature before putting them in the freezer compartment.
  • Do not put a glass container with liquid or the canned liquid that is sealed in the freezer compartment, so as to avoid burst due to volume expansion after the liquid gets frozen up.
  • Divide the food into appropriately small portions
  • You’d better pack the food up before freezing it, and the packing bag used should be dry, in case the packing bags are frozen together. Foods should be packed or covered by such suitable materials as are firm, tasteless, impervious to air and water, non-toxic and pollution-free, to avoid cross-contamination and transfer of odor.

Tips for shopping the frozen foods

  1. When you are buying frozen food, look at the Storage Guidelines on the packaging. You will be able to store each item of frozen food for the period shown against the star rating. This is usually the period stated as “Best to use them before×”, found on the front of the packaging.
  2. Check the temperature of the frozen food cabinet in the shop where you buy the frozen foods.
  3. Make sure the frozen food package is in perfect condition.
  4. Always buy frozen products last on your shopping trip or visit to the supermarket.
  5. Try to keep frozen food together whilst shopping and on the journey home, as this will help to keep the food cooler.
  6. Don’t buy frozen food unless you can freeze it straight away. Special insulated bags can be bought from most supermarkets and hardware shops. These keep the frozen foods cold longer.
  7. For some foods, thawing before cooking is unnecessary. Vegetables and pasta can be added directly to boiling water or steam cooked. Frozen sauces and soups can be put into a saucepan and heated gently until thawed.
  8. Use quality food and handle it as little as possible. When foods are frozen in small quantities, it will take less than for them to freeze up and thaw.
  9. Estimate the amount of foods to be frozen up. When freezing large amounts of fresh food, adjust the temperature control knob to the low mode, with the freezer temperature lowered. So, foods can be frozen up in fast manner, with the food freshness well kept.

Tips for Water dispenser (if available)
The refrigerator includes a water dispenser which makes it easier to fill your cup of water and have access to cold water almost immediately. The water dispenser includes one tank of 2.0 litres of water which has to be filled out. To use water dispenser, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the refrigerator door to ensure the water dispenser fixed well.
  2. Open the filler cover of the water tank, slowly fill the water tank to prevent any spills until the tank is filled. Then close the filler cover of the water tank. See image C.
  3. Once the water tank is full, set the thermostat at the lowest mode or the Fast Cool mode, and one hour later you can dispense water for drinking. See image D.
  4. When using the water dispenser, some water may drip and accumulate at the bottom of the water dispenser. Please wipe it with a cloth when necessary.
  5. The maximum fill must be lower than the tank cover as indicated by the maximum fill line

NOTE:Don’t take away the cup until no waterdrop.

Tips for special needs

Moving the refrigerator/freezer

• Location
Do not place your refrigerator/freezer near a heat source, e.g. cooker, boiler or radiator. Avoid it from direct sunlight in out-buildings or sun lounges.

• Leveling
Make sure to level your refrigerator/freezer using the front leveling feet. If not level, the refrigerator/freezer door gasket sealing performance will be affected, or even it may lead to the operating failure of your refrigerator/freezer.

After locating the refrigerator/freezer in position, wait for 4 hours before using it, so as to allow the refrigerant to settle.

Installation
Do not cover or block the vents or grilles of your appliance.
When you are out for a long time

  • If the appliance will not be used for several months, turn it off first, and then unplug the plug from the wall outlet.
  • Take out all foods.
  • Clean and dry the interior thoroughly. To prevent odor and mold growth, leave the door ajar: block it open or have the door removed if necessary.
  • Keep the cleaned appliance in a dry, ventilated place and away from the heat source, place the appliance smoothly, and do not place heavy objects on top of it.
  • The unit should not be accessible to child’s play.

Maintenance and cleaning

Before cleaning, unplug the power plug first; Do not plug in or plug out the plug with wet hand, because there is a risk of electric shock and injury. Do not spill water directly on the refrigerator, to avoid rust, electricity leakage and accidents. Do not stretch your hands into the bottom of the refrigerator, since you might be scratched by sharp metal corners.
Internal cleaning and external cleaning

The food residuals in the refrigerator are liable to produce bad odor, so the refrigerator must be cleaned regularly. The fresh food compartment is usually cleaned once a month. Remove all shelves, crisper box, bottle racks, cover board, and drawers etc., and clean them with a soft towel or sponge dipped in warm water or neutral detergent. Clear off the dusts accumulated on the rear panel and side plates of the refrigerator often. After using detergent, be sure to rinse it with clean water, and then wipe it dry.

Do not use bristle brush, steel wire brush, detergent, soap powder, alkaline detergent, benzene, gasoline, acid, hot water and other corrosive or soluble items to cleanse the cabinet surface, door gasket, plastic decorative parts, etc., so as to avoid damage.

Carefully wipe dry the door gasket, clean the groove using a wooden chopstick wrapped with cotton string. After the cleaning, fix the four corners of the door gasket first, and then embed it segment by segment into the door groove.

Interruption of power supply or failure of the refrigerating system

  • Take care of the frozen foods in the event of an extended non-running of the refrigerating appliance (such as interruption of power supply or failure of the refrigerating system).
  • Try to open the refrigerator door as less as possible, in this way can food safely and freshly kept for hours even in hot summer.
  • If you get the power outage notice in advance:
  1. Adjust the thermostat knob to the high mode an hour in advance, so that foods get fully frozen (Do not store new food during this time!). Restore the temperature mode to the original setting when power supply becomes normal in a timely manner.
  2. You can also make ice with a watertight container, and put it in the upper part of the freezer, so as to extend the time for fresh food to be stored.

Note: Once the refrigerator is used, you’d better use it continuously; and under normal circumstance, do not stop its use, so as not to affect the service life.

Defrosting

After a period of use, a thin layer of frost will be formed on the freezer compartment inner wall (or evaporator) surface, which may affect the refrigeration effect if exceeding 5mm in thickness. In such case, you need to gently scrape the frost off using an ice scraper rather than the metal or sharp hardware. Frosts need to be cleared off every 3 months or so, and if the normal use of drawers and normal access of foods are affected by frosting, make sure to remove the frosts in a timely manner. Follow the following steps to remove frosts:

  1. Take out the frozen foods, shut off the mains power supply, open the refrigerator door, and gently remove the frosts from the inner wall with an ice scraper. To speed up the thawing process, you are suggested to place a bowl of hot water inside the refrigerator/freezer, and when the solid ice frosts become loose, use an ice scraper to scrape them off and then take them out.
  2. After defrosting, clean the refrigerator/freezer inside, and switch on the power supply.

Changing the lamp
The LED lamp is used by the refrigerator for lighting, which features low energy consumption and long service life. In case of any abnormality, please contact the after-sales personnel for visiting service. The lamps can only be replaced by the manufacturer, together with a part of the appliance

Safety-check after maintenance

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE INSTALLER

INSTALLING A DOMESTIC APPLIANCE CAN BE A COMPLICATED OPERATION WHICH IF NOT CARRIED OUT CORRECTLY, CAN SERIOUSLY AFFECT CONSUMER SAFETY. IT IS FOR THIS REASON THAT THE TASK SHOULD BE UNDERTAKEN BY A PROFESSIONALLY QUALIFIED PERSON WHO WILL CARRY IT OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TECHNICAL REGULATIONS IN FORCE. IN THE EVENT THAT THIS ADVICE IS IGNORED AND THE INSTALLATION IS CARRIED OUT BY AN UNQUALIFIED PERSON, THE MANUFACTURER DECLINES ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY TECHNICAL FAILURE OF THE PRODUCT WHETHER OR NOT IT RESULTS IN DAMAGE TO GOODS OR INJURY TO INDIVIDUALS.

  1. BUILDING IN
The hob may be installed in any worktop which is heat resistant to a temperature of 100°C, and has a thickness of 25-45 mm. The dimensions of the insert to be cut out of the worktop are in shown in Figure 2. When there is an accessible space between the built-in hob and the cavity below, a dividing wall made of insulating material should be inserted (wood or a similar material) (Figure 3). If the hob is fitted next to a cabinet on either side, the distance between the cut out and the cabinet must be at least 15cm (see Figure 4); while the distance between the cut out and the rear wall must be at least 7cm. The distance between the hob and any other unit or appliance above it (e.g. An extractor hood) must be no less than 70 cm (Figure 4).
Metal objects in the drawer may reach high temperatures due to air recirculation. It is therefore recommended to use an intermediate wood panel. Important – The diagram in figure 1 shows how the sealant should be applied.
The Hob unit is fitted by attaching the Fixing Clamps supplied, using the holes at the base of the unit.
  2. SUITABLE LOCATION
This appliance must be installed in accordance with the regulations in force and only used in a well ventilated space. Read the instructions before installing or using this appliance.
A gas-powered cooking appliance produces heat and humidity in the area in which it is installed. For this reason you should ensure good ventilation either by keeping all natural air passages open or by installing an extractor hood with an exhaust flue. Intensive and prolonged use of the appliance may require extra ventilation, such as the opening of a window or an increase in speed of the electric fan, if you have one.
If a hood can not be installed, an electric fan should be fitted to an outside wall or window to ensure that there is adequate ventilation. The electric fan should be able to carry out a complete change of air in the kitchen 3-5 times every hour. The installer should follow the
    relevant national standards.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION (FOR U.K. ONLY)

Warning – this appliance must be earthed
This appliance is designed for domestic use only. Connection to the main supply must be made by a competant electrician, ensuring that all current regulations concerning such installations are observed. The appliance must only be connected to a suitably rated spur point, a 3 pin 13 amp  plug/socket is not suitable. A double pole switch must be provided and the circuit must have appropriate fuse protection.
Further details of the power requirement of the individual product will be found in the users’ instruction and on the appliance rating plate. In the case of built-in product you are advised, should you wish to use a longer cable than the one supplied, that a suitably rated heat resistant type must be used.
The wiring must be connected to the mains supply as follows:

CONNECT TO SPUR TERMINAL
Green & Yellow Wire Earth Connection
Blue Wire Neutral Connection

Note:
We do not advocate the use of earth leakage devices with electric cooking appliances installed to spur points because of the «nuisance tripping» which may occur. You are again reminded that the appliance must be correctly earthed, the manufacturer declines any responsibility for any event occurring as a result of incorrect electrical installation.

  1. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Check the data on the rating plate, located on the outside of the unit, to ensure that the supply and input voltage are suitable. Before connection, check the earthing system. By Law, this appliance must be earthed. If this regulation is not complied with, the Manufacturer will not be responsible for any damage caused to persons or property. If a plug is not already attached, fit a plug appropriate to the load indicated on the rating plate. The earth wire is coloured yellow/green. The plug should always be accessible. Where the Hob is connected direct to the electricity supply, a circuit breaker must be fitted. If the power supply cord is damaged this is to be replaced by a qualified engineer so as to prevent any potential risk. The earth wire ( green and yellow coloured ) must be at least 10 mm longer than the live and neutral wires. The section of the cable used must be of the correct size in relation to the absorbed power of the hob. Please check rating plate for the power details and ensure that the power supply cord is of the type 3×0.75 mm² H05 V2V2-F.
If an appliance is not fitted with a supply cord and a plug, or with other means for disconnection from the supply mains having a contact separation in all poles that provide full disconnection under overvoltage category III conditions, the instructions shall state that means for disconnection must be incorporated in the fixed wiring in accordance with the wiring rules.
  2. GAS CONNECTION
These instructions are for qualified personnel, installation of equipment must be in line with the relevant national standard. (For U.K. only: by law the gas installation commissioning must be carried out by a “Gas Safe” installer) All work must be carried out with the electricity supply disconnected. The rating plate on the hob shows the type of gas with which it is designed to be used. Connection to the mains gas supply or gas cylinder should be carried out after having checked that it is regulated for the type of gas with which it will be supplied. If it is not correctly regulated see the instructions in the following paragraphs to change gas setting.
For some models a conic link is furnished to outfit for the installation in the countries where this type of link is obligatory; in picture 8 it is pointed out how to recognize the different types of links (CY = cylindrical, CO = conic). In every case the cylindrical part of the link has to be connected to the hob.
When connecting the hob to the gas supply via use offlexible hoses please ensure that the maximum distance covered by the hose does not exceed 2 metres.
The flexible tube shall be fitted in such a way that it cannot come into contact with a moveable part of the housing unit (e.g. a drawer) and does
To prevent any potential damage to the hob please carry out the installation following this sequence (picture 6):
    1. As illustrated, assemble parts in sequence:
    A: 1/2 MaleAdaptor Cylindirical
    B: 1/2 Seal
    C: 1/2 Female GasAdaptor Conical-Cylindirical or Cylindrical-Cylindrical
    2. Tighten the joints with the spanner, remembering to twist the pipes into position.
    3. Attach fitting C to mains gas supply using rigid copper pipe or flexible steel pipe.
IMPORTANT: carry out a final check for leaks on the pipe connections using a soapy solution. Also, make sure that the flexible pipe cannot come into contact with a moving part of the cabinet (eg.adrawer) and that it is not situated where it could be damaged.
Warning: If gas can be smelt in the vicinity of this appliance turn off the gas supply to the appliance and call the engineer directly. Do not search for a leak with a naked flame.
  3. ADAPTING THE HOB TO DIFFERENT TYPES OF GAS
To adapt the Hob for use with different types of gas, carry out the following instructions:
    • Remove the grids and burners ·Insert on hexagonal spanner (7 mm) into the burner support (Figure 7)
    • Unscrew the injector and replace it with one suitable for the gas to be used (see gas type table)
  4. REGULATING THE MINIMUM FLAME
After lighting the burners, turn the control knob to the minimum setting and then remove the knob (this can easily be removed by applying gentle pressure). Using a small «Terminal» type screwdriver the regulating screw can be adjusted as in Figure 9. Turning the screw clockwise reduces the gas flow, whilst turning it anticlockwise increases the flow Use this adjustment to obtain a flame of approximately 3 to 4 mm in length and then replace the control knob. When the gas supply available is LPG – the screw to set the idle flame must be turned (clockwise) to the end stop. When you have carried out the new gas regulation, replace the old gas rating plate on your appliance with one (supplied with hob) suitable for the type of gas for which it has been regulated.

VENTILATION

Installation of the Discharge Hose
It is essential to use a venting hose to carry the hot moist air away from the dryer unless the dryer is situated in an open space with a good airflow around it. Recirculation of the moist air will prevent the efficient operation of the dryer.
The hose is assembled to the machine as shown. The hose may be fitted through a wall or through an open door or window. The hose is 110mm in diameter and will extend 1.8 meters.
The following guidelines should be followed when installing the discharge hose.

  • Do not use two hoses joined together as the drying performance will be reduced.
  • Do not restrict the flow of air through the hose e.g. by kinking it or fitting a smaller diameter connector to mount to a wall opening.
  • Avoid the hose making U-shaped curves as this will restrict the flow of air and increase the chance that water will collect in the hose.
  • Check the hose regularly to remove any build-up of fluff or water that may have collected in it.

The following diagrams give examples of good and bad installations.

PREPARING THE LOAD

Before using the tumble dryer for the first time:

  • Please read this instruction book thoroughly.

NOTES:
Place your smartphone so that the NFC antenna on its back matches the position of the One Touch logo on the appliance (as illustrated below). Hoover 40010682 Vented Tumble Dryers with NFC Near Field Communication - Figure 9

If you do not know the position of your NFC antenna, slightly move the smartphone in a circular motion over the One Touch logo until the App confirms the connection. In order for the data transfer to be successful, it is essential TO KEEP THE SMARTPHONE ON THE DASHBOARD DURING THE FEW SECONDS OF THE PROCEDURE; a message on the device will inform you about the correct outcome of the operation and advise you when it is possible to move the smartphone away.
Thick cases or metallic stickers on your smartphone could affect or prevent the transmission of data between machine and telephone. If necessary, remove them.
The replacement of some components of the smartphone (e.g. back cover, battery, etc … ) with non-original ones, could result in the NFC antenna removal, preventing the full use of the App.
The management and the control of the machine via App is only possible “by proximity”: it is therefore not possible to perform remote operations (e.g.: from another room; outside of the house).

3. PRACTICAL TIPS

Load tips

WARNING: when sorting laundry, make sure:

– have eliminated metallic objects such as barrettes, pins, coins, from laundry;
– to have buttoned pillow cases, closed zips, tied loose belts and long robe ribbons;
– to have removed rollers from curtains;
– to have carefully read clothing washing labels;
– to have removed any persistent stains using specific detergents.

  • When washing rugs, bedcovers or other heavy clothing, we recommend you avoid centrifuging.
  • To wash wool, make sure the item can be machine washed and marked by the “Pure virgin wool” symbol with the “Does not mat” or “Machine washable” label.
Helpful suggestions for the user

A guide environmentally friendly and economic use of your appliance.

Maximise The Load Size

  • Achieve the best use of energy, water, detergent and time by using the recommended maximum load size. Save up to 50% energy by washing a full load instead of 2 half loads.

Do you need to pre-wash?

  • For heavily soiled laundry only!
SAVE detergent, time, water and between 5 to 15% energy consumption by NOT selecting Prewash for slight to normally soiled laundry.

Is a hot wash required?

  • Pretreat stains with stain remover or soak dried in stains in water before washing to reduce the necessity of a hot wash programme.
Save up to 50% energy by using a 60°C wash programme.

Following is a quick guide with tips and recommendations on detergent use at the various temperatures. In any case, always read the instructions on the detergent for correct use and doses.

When washing heavily soiled whites, we recommend using cotton programs of 60°C or above and a normal washing powder (heavy duty) that contains bleaching agents that at medium/high temperatures provide excellent results.

For washes between 40°C and 60°C the type of detergent used needs to be appropriate for the type of fabric and level of soiling.
Normal powders are suitable for “white” or colour fast fabrics with high soiling, while liquid detergents or “colour protecting” powders are suitable for coloured fabrics with light levels of soiling.

For washing at temperatures below 40°C we recommend the use of liquid detergents or detergents specifically labeled as suitable for low temperature washing.

For washing wool or silk, only use detergents specifically formulated for these fabrics.

4. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

To clean the washing machine exterior, use a damp cloth, avoiding abrasives, alcohol and/or solvents. The washing machine does not require any special care for ordinary cleaning: clean drawer compartments and the filter; some tips on how to move the machine or on long periods of disuse are provided below.

Drawer cleaning
  • We recommend you clean the drawer to avoid accumulating detergent and additive residue.
  • To do this, extract the drawer using slight force, clean it with running water and reinsert it in its housing.
Filter cleaning
  • The washing machine comes with a special filter able to trap large residue, such as buttons or coins, which could clog the drain.
  • Only available on certain models: pull out the corrugated hose, remove the stopper and drain the water into a container.
  • Before unscrewing the filter, we recommend you place an absorbent cloth under it to keep the floor dry.
  • Turn the filter counter-clockwise to the limit stop in the vertical position.
  • Remove and clean the filter; when finished, replace it turning it clockwise.
  • Repeat the previous steps in reverse order to reassemble all parts.

Suggestions for moves or prolonged disuse
  • Should the washing machine be stored in an unheated room for a long period of time, drain all water from tubes.
  • Unplug the washing machine.
  • Detach the tube from the strap and lower it, fully draining water into a bowl.
  • Secure the drain tube with the strap when finished.

5. QUICK USER GUIDE

This washing machine automatically adapts the level of the water to the type and quantity of washing. This system gives a decrease in energy consumption and a sensible reduction in washing times.

Program selection
  • Turn on the washing machine and select the required program.
  • Adjust the washing temperature if necessary and press the required “option” buttons.
  • Press the START/PAUSE button to start washing.
Should power go out when the washing machine is running, a special memory saves the settings and, when power returns, the machine resumes the cycle from where it left off.
  • The message “end” will appear on the display or the corresponding led will turn on at the end of the program.

Wait until the porthole locked light turns off: about 2 minutes after the program ends.

  • Turn off the washing machine.

For any type of wash, see the program table and follow the operating sequence as indicated.

  • A special safety device prevents the door from being opened immediately after the end of the cycle. Wait for 2 minutes after the wash cycle has finished and the DOOR LOCKED light has gone out before opening the door. At the end of the cycle turn the programme selector to OFF.

2) CYCLE DURATION

  • When a programme is selected the display automatically shows the cycle duration, which can vary, depending on the options selected.
  • Once the programme has started you will be kept informed constantly of the time remaining to the end of the wash.
  • The appliance calculates the time to the end of the selected programme based upon a standard loading, during the cycle, the appliance corrects the time to that applicable to the size and composition of the load.

COTTON PROGRAMME WITH A TEMPERATURE OF 60°C.

COTTON PROGRAMME WITH A TEMPERATURE OF 40°C.

These programmes are suitable to clean normally soiled cotton laundry and they are the most efficient programmes in terms of combined energy and water consumptions for washing cotton laundry.
These programmes have been developed to be compliant with the temperature on the wash label on the garments and the actual water temperature may slightly differ from the declared temperature of the cycle.

The spin speed may also be reduced, to match any guidelines suggested on the fabric label, or for very delicate fabrics cancel the spin completely this option is available with a spin speed button. This function can be activated with the button SPIN SPEED.
If the label does not indicate specific information, it is possible to use the maximum spin expected in the program.

An over dosing of detergent can cause excessive foaming.
If the appliance detects the presence of excessive foam, it may exclude the spinning phase or extend the duration of the program and increase water consumption.

(DXC 4E47B3 - DETERGENT 3) Only with PREWASH option selected (programmes with PREWASH option available).

DXC 4E47B3 - DETERGENT 2 (Only for models with liquid detergent compartment)
When only a limited number of articles have stains which require treatment with liquid bleaching agents, preliminary removal of stain can be carried out in the washing machine.
Pour the bleach into the liquid bleach container, inserted into the compartment marked “2” in the detergent drawer, and set the special programme RINSE.
When this phase has terminated, turn the programme selector on the OFF position, add the rest of the fabrics and proceed with a normal wash on the most suitable programme.

1) Selecting the RAPID program on the knob, it will be possible to select with the RAPID LENGTH button, one of the three rapid programs available among 14 Min., 30 Min. and 44 Min..

Programmes selection

To clean different types of fabrics and various levels of dirt, the washing machine has specific programs to meet every need of washing (see table of programmes).

ActivEco 20°C
This innovative programme, allows you to wash different fabrics and colours together, such as cottons, synthetics and mixed fabrics at only 20°C and provides an excellent cleaning performance. Consumption on this program is about 40% of a conventional 40°C. cottons wash.

Baby 60°C
This program allows you to wash all baby clothes getting a perfect clean and sanitizing effect, setting the temperature at 60°C minimum. To optimize the result of the sanitizing effect we recommend the use of powder detergent.

Daily 59 Min.
This specially designed programme maintains the high quality wash performance whilst greatly reducing the wash time. The programme is designed for a reduced load (see table of programmes).

Rapid (14/30/44 Min.)
Washing cycle suggested for low loads and slightly dirty. With this program it is recommended to reduce the quantity of detergent normally used, in order to avoid unnecessary waste. Selecting the RAPID program and acting on the button you can choose one of three programs available.

Shirts
The washing cycle is optimized to reduce the creation of creases, keeping an excellent washing performance. It is also possible to further reduce the spin speed, to ensure an easier ironing.

Dark Colours
Program designed to mix all dark garments and to avoid the loss of colour and the formation of creases. We recommend the use of liquid detergent.

Auto Clean
This program is suited to clean the drum of your appliance. It is recommended to use this program every 50 washing cycles, to ensure a long service life and avoid bad odors. Make sure to start the program exclusively without laundry in the machine, using only powder detergent for washing machine. When the washing cycle finishes, open the door of the washing machine to dry the drum.

Rinse
This program performs 3 rinses with an intermediate spin (which can be reduced or excluded by using the appropriate button) . It is used for rinsing any type of fabric, for example after a wash carried out by hand.

Drain & Spin
The program completes the drain and a maximum spin. It is possible to delete or reduce the spin with the SPIN SPEED button.

Lingerie
This program has been designed to perfectly clean the everyday underwear: it is particularly indicated for cottons and resistant synthetics, with also the possibility to mix colours (colourfast clothes only).

Hand & Silk
This programme allows a delicate washing cycle for garments specified as “Hand Wash only” and laundry items made from Silk or specified as “Wash as Silk” on the fabric label.

Wool
This program performs a wash cycle dedicated to the wool fabrics that can be washed in a washing machine, or the articles to be washed by hand.

Delicates
This program alternates among moments of work during breaks and is particularly suitable for washing delicate fabrics. The wash cycle and rinses are carried out with a high level of water to ensure the best performance.

Mixed
The washing and rinsing are optimized in the rhythms of rotation of the drum and to the water levels. The gentle spin, ensures a reduced formation of creases in the fabric.

DXC 4E47B3 - Cottons

This program is suitable to clean normally soiled cotton laundry and it is the most efficient program in terms of combined energy and water consumptions for washing cotton laundry.

7. CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRE AND WARRANTY

If you believe the washing machine is not working correctly, consult the quick guide provided below with some practical tips on how to fix the most common problems.

Problem Possible causes and practical solutions
The washing machine does not work/start Make sure it is correctly plugged in.
Make sure power is on.
Check whether the required program was correctly selected and to have correctly started the machine.
Make sure the fuse has not blown and that the wall socket is working, testing it with another appliance such as a lamp.
The porthole may not be correctly closed: open and close it again.
The washing machine does not fill with water Make sure the water faucet is open.
Make sure the timer is correct set.
The washing machine does not drain water Make sure the filter is not clogged.
Make sure the drain hose is not bent.
Make sure there are no foreign objects in the filter.
Water leaked on the floor near the washing machine This may be due to a leak in the gasket between the faucet and supply tube; in this case, replace it and tighten the tube and faucet.
The washing machine does not centrifuge This could be due to the fact that water has not been completely drained: wait a few minutes.

Some models include a “no centrifuge” function: make sure it is not on.

An excessive amount of detergent could prevent centrifuge: reduce the amount at the next wash.
Strong vibrations are heard during centrifuge The washing machine may not be fully levelled: if necessary, adjust the feet as indicated in the specific section.
Make sure transport brackets were removed.
Make sure the load is evenly distributed.
If a specific ERROR appears of blinks If error no. 0, 1, 5, 7 or 8 appears or blinks, contact the Customer Service Centre directly.
If error no. 2 appears or blinks, the machine does not load water. Make sure the water faucet is open.
If error no. 3 appears or blinks, the machine does not correctly drain. Make sure the drain is free and that the drain hose is not bent.
If error no. 4 appears or blinks, the machine is too full. Close the water faucet and contact the Customer Service Centre.
If error no. 9 appears or blinks, turn off the washing machine, wait 10 – 15 seconds and restart the program.

The use of ecological detergents without phosphates may cause the following effects:

– cloudier rinse drain water: This effect is tied to the suspended zeolites which do not have negative effects on rinse efficiency.

– white powder (zeolites) on laundry at the end of the wash: this is normal, the powder is not absorbed by fabric and does not change its colour.

– foam in the water at last rinse: this does not necessary indicate poor rinsing.

– abundant foam: This is often due to the anionic surfactants found in the detergents which are hard to eliminate from laundry.
In this case, do not re-rinse to eliminate these effects: it will not help at all.

If the problem persists or if you suspect a malfunction, immediately contact the Hoover Customer Service Centre.

You can also register for the Hoover service plan to receive free home service after the warranty expires.

Grounding Instructions

This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electrical current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor (C) and grounding plug (A). The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet (B) that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

DANGER:

Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in the risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance – if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug (A) illustrated in sketch A temporary adapter (D) may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle (E) if a properly grounded outlet is not available temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet (B) can be installed by a qualified electrician The green colored rigid ear, lug, or the like (F) extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground (G) such as a properly grounded outlet box cover Whenever the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw.

  • TuffOxi is a trademark of Tuff Products for Pets.

Dirty Water Tank (lower tank)

The Dirty Water Tank holds the dirty solution that is picked up from the surface being cleaned. When the Dirty Water Tank is full, the automatic shut-off will engage, suction will stop and the tank must be emptied (see Automatic Shut-Off section).

How to Empty

  • Turn cleaner off and unplug from electrical outlet.
  • To prevent possible leaking, remove clean water tank by pressing down on tank handle and pulling forward; set tank aside (do not set tank on furniture).
  • 2.14 Turn Dirty Water Tank latches (G) outward (one on each side of tank). Raise handle straight up and lift tank off cleaner. Carry tank to sink or drain.
  • 2.15 Lower handle toward back of tank to unlock lid. Lift lid off tank.

Empty tank and reposition lid. For full suction, it is important that the Dirty Water Tank lid is properly secured before cleaning. Raise tank handle to carrying position and place it onto cleaner. Lower handle to front of tank. Turn latches (one on each side of tank) inward to lock tank in place.

IMPORTANT
Make sure the tank handle is moved forward to lock the tank lid before putting cleaner in upright position. Failure to secure properly may result in damage to the tank handle and may cause poor suction.

Automatic shut off

  • When the Dirty Water Tank (lower tank) is full the automatic shut off mechanism will shut off the cleaner suction (suction will be noticeably reduced).
  • 2.16 At that time, the yellow float disk will rise to the top of the Dirty Water Tank lid (B). The cleaner will no longer pick up dirty solution and the motor sound will become noticeably higher in pitch.
  • When this happens, turn cleaner off and empty Dirty Water Tank before continuing use.
  • Check clean water tank also; it may need to be refilled.
  • Do not use without float and float retainer in place. If broken or dislodged, take to an Authorized Dealer for repair

How to CLEAN

Before you begin cleaning

  • Vacuum thoroughly – For carpet, use a HOOVER® vacuum cleaner with an agitator for best results. Vacuum upholstery with a vacuum cleaner with cleaning tool attachments. Use a crevice tool to reach into tufts and folds. Do not use the carpet cleaner as a dry vacuum cleaner.
  • For upholstery, check cleaning code – Use your HOOVER® carpet cleaner only if the upholstery fabric is marked with a “W” (for “wet” clean) or “S/W” (for “solvent/dry” or “wet” clean). Do not clean fabric marked “S” (“solvent/dry” clean only). If your upholstery does not have a code, seek professional assistance.
  • Test for colorfastness – Wet a white absorbent cloth with the detergent. In a small, hidden area, gently rub the surface with the dampened cloth. Wait ten minutes and check for color removal or bleed with white paper towel or cloth. If surface has more than one color, check all colors.
  • When cleaning entire floor, move furniture out of area to be cleaned (may not be necessary if only high traffic areas are to be cleaned). For furniture too heavy to move, place aluminum foil or wax paper under legs. This will prevent wood finishes from staining carpet. Pin up furniture skirts and draperies.
  • Pretreat spots and heavy traffic areas with HOOVER® Spot & Stain Spray Cleaner*- Follow Directions on bottle.
  • To prevent staining, use plastic or aluminum foil to protect wood or metal surfaces from possible water spray.
  • To avoid wetting and possible damage to wood floors underneath area rugs/carpet, either move area rugs/ carpet to a non-wood hard floor surface or place waterproof material (e.g. plastic) underneath them before cleaning.
  • Available at additional cost if not included with your model.

  • Read “Before You Begin Cleaning” instructions above.
  • Fill Clean Water Tank according to instructions for
  • Fill detergent container with Hoover® detergent according to instructions for
  • Select proper SpinScrub® mode

  • To avoid walking on damp carpet, start at the end of the room farthest from the door or path to sink where tanks will be emptied and filled.
  • Step on handle release pedal and lower handle to operating position.
  • Set Rinse Setting switch to Wash/Rinse. Turn cleaner ON.
  • Squeeze trigger to apply cleaning solution and slowly push cleaner forward (equals one wet stroke).

  • Then slowly pull cleaner back toward you without squeezing trigger (dry stroke). Continue using dry strokes until little water is visible passing through the Dirty Water Tank lid (Pass over the same area a minimum of 4 times = 2 while squeezing the trigger and 2 without).
  • For best results, use straight, parallel strokes.
  • Overlap strokes by 1 inch to help prevent streaking
  • Keep nozzle flat on floor for both forward and reverse strokes.
  • 3.3 If you would like to rinse the carpet with water only, set Rinse Setting switch to RINSE. Repeat cleaning motion. In this setting, rinsing will be done on both forward and reverse strokes.
  • For heavily soiled areas, repeat cleaning motion.
  • Avoid saturating carpet, as noted.
  • It is best to alternate wet and dry strokes as described above.

  • Dirty Water Tank when the motor sound becomes higher pitched and there is a loss in suction (see “Automatic shut-off”,
  • When finished cleaning, follow “After Cleaning” instructions

Picking up spills

  • Your HOOVER® SteamVac® cleaner may also be used to pick up small liquid spills on carpet or uholstery.
  • For best results, pick up spills immediately by placing the stair/upholstery nozzle just above the spill and suction up any residue on top of the carpet.
  • If the spill remains, place either the stair/ upholstery nozzle or floor nozzle with the SpinScrub® mode selector to SPILL PICK-UP in front of the spill, pull the nozzle very slowly over the spill initially with suction only. Repeat with spray and suction.
  • If a spot is left, the stair/upholstery nozzle is generally more effective for removing it. Although no cleaning solution can completely remove all spots, they can be treated by following the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the carpet, upholstery, or hard floor surface being cleaned.
  • Do not use the SteamVac® cleaner to pick up flammable or combustible liquids or chemicals.
  • When finished, follow “After Cleaning” instructions

After cleaning

  • Allow carpet or upholstery to dry. To help prevent matting and resoiling the carpet, keep children and pets away from surface until it is completely dry. If it is necessary to walk on damp carpet, place towels or white cloths on the traffic areas.
  • If furniture must be replaced before the carpet is dry, place plastic or aluminum foil under legs of furniture so metal slides or wood finishes will not stain the carpet.
  • Empty tanks, rinse with clean water and let air dry.
  • Rinse the Dirty Water Tank lid and let air dry.
