INSTRUCTIONS

6 Steps To Catch And Release

  • With one hand, grab the handle on the top of the cage. Lift the trap. Trap will drop into place.

  • Clip frame rods into place at the front and middle of the trap. Remember to clip both sides of the frame Role. 1090 only has a front frame rod.

  • Remove the U-shaped lock rod from the storage area at top of the trap After removing the lock rod, close the back panel Back panel should swing down when the lock rod is removed Turn trap so you are facing the back panel With the straight end of the U-shaped lock rod closest to the ground, take your right hand and thread the straight end of the lock rod through the bottom hole of the retainer clip and the hooked part of the lock rod through the side of the trap Thread rod through the two rings and both sides of the back panel so the back of the trap is secure. Thread straight end of lock rod through the bottom hole of the retainer clip on the left side of the trap With your left hand secure the hooked part of the lock rod to the left side of the trap.

  • Thread the tiger rod into loops on the underside of the tiger pan

  • Lift handle to back off trap
  • Handle locks into position

  • Bait trap by placing food behind the trip plate
Animal Suggested Baits
Rabbit, Muskrat fresh vegetables, carrots, apples
Large Squirrels cereals, nuts
Ferret, Mink, Skunks, Woodchucks, Opossums, Stray Cat crisp bacon, fish, fresh vegetables, cat food
Porcupines fresh vegetables
Raccoons crisp bacon, fish, fresh vegetables, cat food
Bobcat, Nutria crisp bacon, fish, cat food
Armadillo Meal worms, mag- gots, spoiled meat. over-ripe fruit, sardines, fish

Trapping Tips

Here are some helpful  guidelines to the folder when trapping the  animal

  1. locate the cage trap in an area where animals are often observed
  2. Place the cage trap on a level surface
  3. Position a side of the cage trap again last a well of a building or in a path commonly trap veiled by the animal
  4. check trap frequency

Releasing

  • Approach the trap cautiously from behind.
  • lift handle to the back of the trap to open the door
  • Stay clear until the animal leaves the trap

Relocation of captured animals:

Note: Check with your local or state Game Commission to determine the lawful method of disposing of a captured animal.
Caution: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HANDLE CAPTURED ANIMALS. DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED NEAR A CAPTURED ANIMAL.

To release the animal, approach the trap cautiously and quietly so you dont excite the animal.

To collapse trap:

  • Remove the U-shaped lock rod from the back panel.
  • Face trap so trigger cable is toward you.
  • Unclip front and back frame rods. Lay frame rods flat.
  • Set trap so the door is open.
  • With right hand. push the back panel toward the front of the trap and hold it open.
  • Collapse trap by pushing the top of trap away from you and then down
  • Fold trap so that trigger cable is down (on bottom of the trap.)
  • Place a U-shaped lock rod in the storage area (top one inch of mesh) at the back of the trap so that the back panel is secure.
  • Retain carton for trap storage.

Havahart Large 1-Door Trap 1079

Instructions
Preparing the Trap –
  • Familiarize yourself with the parts of the trap and how they operate.
  • Allow the animal to become familiar with the trap by placing it, with the door propped open and baited, where the animal is used to feeding.
Trapping Tips –
  • Locate the cage trap in an area where the animal is often observed.
  • Place the cage on a level surface. Position a side of the cage trap against a wall of a building or a path commonly traveled by the animal.
  • It is helpful if the animal is hungry before you trap. If anyone is feeding the animal, you may want to suggest to refrain for a few days.
  • Check with your local or state Game Commission to determine the lawful method of releasing of a captured wild or nuisance animal.
General –
  1. To ensure safe and humane trapping of wild animals, choose the appropriate size trap for theanimals and check the trap often.
  2. To calm trapped animals, cover the entire trap and limit human contact.
Baiting –
  1. For best results, create a trail with bait from outside the trap to the Trigger Plate.
  2. Place bait approximately two inches from the back of the trap. Do not place bait on the trigger plate. If you have difficulty reaching the back of the trap, place trap on its end, and drop bait into the trap.
    NOTE: Always bait the trap before setting it.
  3. Suggested baits:•Cats: Cat Food, Sardines
    • Raccoons: Bacon, Cat Food, Marshmallows, Sardines.
    • Groundhogs: Sliced Bananas, Apples, Lettuce.
Setting and Releasing –
  1. Lift the Door Lock up with one hand.

  2. Using the other hand, push the Door Lock Frame inwards and begin to open Trap Door (Illustration 1).

  3. When the Trap Door is completely open, pull Trigger forward and hook onto door (Illustration 2).Gently release hold of door. Trap is set.
  4. To release animal, lift door and prop open with a stick or other sturdy object threaded throughthe side of the trap. Walk away and animal will exit.
    NOTE: Any camouflage or material used to hide the trap should not interfere with the operation of the trap in any way.
2Release/Relocation of Captured Animals.

NOTE: Check with your local or state Game Commission to determine the lawful method of releasing/ relocating a captured wild or nuisance animal.CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HANDLE CAPTURED ANIMALS. DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED NEAR A CAPTURED ANIMAL.
