FAQS

What is the difference between Greenworks G-MAX 40V and Greenworks G-MAX 40V GT?

The only difference is that the GT version has a grass blade.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

It takes about 60 minutes to fully charge the battery. However, you can use it while it’s charging. You’ll get about 45 minutes of run time on a fully charged battery.

Are extra batteries available for purchase?

Yes, extra batteries are available for purchase. Here is the link to the compatible G-Max 40v batteries https://www.amazon.com/GreenWorks-29462-G-MAX-Li-Ion-Battery/dp/B00AW72XFQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1507209379&sr=8-3&keywords=G-Max+40v+batteries. If you have trouble with this process, please feel free to contact us at 1-888-909-6757 for assistance.

How long does the 2AH battery last?

The 2.0Ah 40v battery can last around 20-25 minutes depending on the type of weeds you’re using it on.

Does this come with the string, oil and other essentials needed?

It came with the string and battery and charger. Ours arrived,we charged the battery, plugged it in thetrimmer and trimmed our whole yard, front and back with power to spare. We don’t mess with cords, gas,or oil anymore and trimming the yard is now a pleasure instead of a curse. The only thing is,it doesn’t have auto feed for the string. The button for it is on the side of the spool instead of the bottom and you have to manually press it to advance the string. It’s a small price to pay for not having to mess around with cords, gas, oil, hard starting, etc

Has anyone been able to fix the auto feed feature? Mine has never worked since day 1… going on over two years with this thing.

We’re sorry to hear you are having problems with the automatic feed with your unit. So we can assist in addressing this issue, please contact our helpline at 1-888-909-6757.

Is 40 volt more powerfull than 20 v

The simple answer is yes. Mathematically power (the rate of work being done) is volts times current. So the higher the voltage the more work that can be done for the amount of current stored in the battery.

What is the overall length of this unit, as i am tall and dont like bending over?

This string trimmer would be approximately 59″ in length.

Is the pole adjustable on this model?

This string trimmer does not have an adjustable pole.

Can you use sunjoe batteries?

No, this is a GreenWorks G-Max 40v unit and can only be used with GreenWorks G-Max 40v batteries. We are not affiliated with Sun Joe.

Are extra batteries available for purchase?

Yes, batteries from the GreenWorks G-Max 40v line will be compatible:
2968402ME
2934102AZ
2909202 / 2909202AZ

Does the charger support 220/240 volt

No it does not. but you can buy any step-down voltage converter 220VAC to 110VAC with the same or more wattage to resolve the issue.

does one battery fit all green works products? looking at 16″ chain saw, and weed trimmer, need to know if they use same battery?

If it is a 40v Gmax battery you must use in a gmax unit. If you buy a gmax weed trimmer that uses the gmax battery, the chain saw must also be a gmax saw. You can’t use a regular battery in a gmax unit. I bought the gmax lawn mower, weed trimmer and hand held blower. They all are gmax so I have extra batteries and a charger enabling me to have all the battery power i need. I am also very happy with all the gmax units I purchased. It should tell you the batteries needed in the description of unit you are looking to purchase. make sure they all use the same battery and you will have no problem.

what are the spool cap dimensions??

Don’t waste your money, you won’t be happy with it. It is awkward, heavy, no balance to get the head level, line does not feed half the time. JUNK not to mention the battery has a full charge but the motor cuts out every 10 seconds. Greenworks support is non existent. buyer beware

can a green works 40v lithium max 2.5ah battery model baf722 be used with the 21332 string trimmer?

This trimmer sucks. Waste of money

Will this one work with the greenworks 40v 150 mph variable speed cordless leaf blower, 2.0ah, 24252 2ah battery

Yes, that battery 24252 is a GMax 40V 2Ah battery and will fit this 13-inch 40V cordless string trimmer.

We recommend Wide Vision Safety Mask for use over eyeglasses or standard safety glasses with side shields. Always use eye protection which is marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.

ELECTRICAL

DOUBLE INSULATED
This dethatcher has a plug that looks like the one shown below. (See Figure 1) The dethatcher is double insulated to provide a dual thickness of insulation between you and the tool’s electrical system. All exposed metal parts are insulated from the internal motor compo-nents using protective insulation. DO NOT MODIFY THE PLUG PROVIDED. If it will not fit the outlet, have the proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

WARNING
Use the proper circuit protection to avoid the risk of electric shock, fire or damage to the tool. The dethatcher is wired at the factory for 120 V operation. Connect to a 120 V, 15 A circuit and use a 15 A time-delayed fuse or circuit breaker. Replace a cut, worn or damaged power cord immediately to avoid shocks or fires.

WARNING
To avoid injury, use only identical replacement parts when servicing the dethatcher. Call our toll-free helpline: 1-888-90WORKS (888.909.6757).

WARNING
Double insulation does not take the place of normal safety precautions when operating this tool.

WARNING

  1. Use only identical replacement parts when servicing a tool with double insulation. Servicing should be performed by a qualified technician.
  2. Do not use in wet or damp areas or expose to rain.

WARNING
THIS DETHATCHER IS FOR OUTDOOR USE ONLY. DO NOT EXPOSE TO RAIN OR USE IN DAMP LOCATIONS.

GUIDELINES FOR USING EXTENSION CORDS
USE THE PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one of heavy enough gauge to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause overheating. The table below shows the cor-rect size to use depending on cord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord.

MINIMUM GAUGE FOR EXTENSION CORDS (AWG)
(WHEN USING 120V ONLY)

Make sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition. Always replace a damaged extension cord or have it repaired by a qualified technician before use. Keep extension cords away from sharp objects, excessive heat and damp or wet areas. Use a separate electrical circuit for tools. This circuit should not be less than #12 wire and should be protected with a 15 A time delayed fuse. Before connecting the motor to the power line, make sure the switch is in the OFF position and the electric current is rated the same as the current stamped on the motor nameplate. Running at a lower voltage will damage the motor.

WARNING
Although this tool is double insulated, the extension cord and outlet must still be grounded while in use to protect the operator from electric shocks.

KNOW YOUR DETHATCHER

The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the tool and in this operator’s manual as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting. Before use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. (See Figure 2)

General Use

  • The Gun kit is for use with most electric pressure washers rated up to 2,000 PSI.
  • Before starting the pressure washer, check for damaged parts and replace them.
  • Check/clean the water strainer on the inlet side of the pump regularly to help prolong the life of the pressure washer and accessories.
  • Make sure all connections are secure.
  • Remove all undesirable items from your work area.
  • Wear safety glasses when in the operating unit.
  • Hold the gun securely when starting the pressure washer.
  • When operating a pressure washer, always stand on a permanently stable surface.
  • Do not stand on ladders, chairs, etc.
  • Always shut down the pressure washer and water supply before removing the gun, wand, or tip prior to cleaning debris from it.

WARNING
When changing accessories, turn off the pressure washer and water supply, then depressurize the unit by squeezing the gun trigger until all of the water has drained out of the hose and gun. Never point spray nozzles or guns at humans or animals. Never place any body part in the water stream. Serious injury can result from the high-pressure discharge produced by pressure washers.

WARNING PROPOSITION 65
Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities contain chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples of these chemicals are:

  • Lead from lead-based paints
  • Crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products
  • Arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber

Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work.

To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well-ventilated area, and work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

PREPARATION

Before beginning the installation of the product, make sure all parts are present. Compare parts with package contents list and hardware contents list. If any part is missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble, install or operate the product.

Estimated Assembly Time: 3 – 5 minutes.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Follow the owner’s manual for precise and safe instructions to correctly connect the gun and hose to the pressure washer (sold separately).
  2. Connect the hose (D) to the trigger handle on the gun (C).
  3. Insert the male bayonet end of the wand (B) into the female bayonet outlet on the gun (C).
Push firmly and turn clockwise until tabs lock in place to ensure a leak-free connection.
  4. To attach the nozzle (A), pull back on the quick-connect collar on the wand (B) and push the nozzle (A) into place. Then push the collar on the wand (B) forward.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

To promote longer life of the gun kit:

  • Do not run over the hose with vehicles or drag it over sharp surfaces, as this could damage the hose and cause leaks.
  • Run clean, fresh water through the kit, then turn off the pressure washer and water supply.
  • Depressurize by squeezing the gun trigger until all of the water has been drained out of the kit.
  • The kit can now be disconnected safely for storage in a cool dark area, or to remove debris from individual parts.

WARNING
Keep hose away from hot surfaces (like a muffler). If the hose develops a leak, do not try to repair it. REPLACE THE ENTIRE HOSE. The hose is for cold water pressure washers only. DO NOT use hot water or steam service. To prevent accidental discharge, always use a trigger lock when you are finished spraying.
