The device remains on until you turn the device off manually (Turning Off the Dog Collar Device, page 1)
TIP: The device does not issue corrections for two minutes after any button press, or after the device is removed from the charger.
Hold the power key until all of the status LED indicators turn green.
The device beeps, and an LED indicates the active mode. An LED turns blue when the smart mode is active. An LED turns green when any other mode is active. After two seconds, a blue or green LED turns red.

Turning Off the Dog Collar Device

Hold the power key until the status LED turns solid red and the device beeps.

Attaching the Dog Collar Device to a Collar Strap

You can attach the dog collar device to a collar strap that is a maximum of 25.4 mm wide (1 in.) and 2.78 mm thick (0.11 in.).

  1. With the buckle facing outward, insert the end of the collar
strap 1 through the slot 2 on the collar device.
  2. Pull approximately two-thirds of the collar strap through the slot on the opposite side of the device.
  3. Snap the collar band onto the device. 4 Pull the collar strap until it is tight across the front of the device.
Pairing Your Smartphone with the Dog Collar Device

You can use the Garmin CanineTM app on your compatible smartphone to pair your dog collar device using Bluetooth® Smart wireless technology.

  1. Go to www.garmin.com/apps, and download the Garmin Canine app to your smartphone.
  2. Open the Garmin Canine app on your smartphone.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an account, set up your dog profile, and pair the dog collar device.
  4. Bring your smartphone within 10 m (33 ft.) of the dog collar device.
  5. Connect the dog collar device to the charger. The device enters pairing mode.

When the device is paired with your smartphone, a message appears.

Fitting the Collar on Your Dog

CAUTION To help reduce the chance of irritation, remove the collar when not in use. You should check the fit and comfort of the collar daily.

This device is not intended for human use. Do not attempt to use on any person.

Do not spray the device with harsh chemicals including but not limited to flea or tick spray. Always ensure that all flea or tick spray applied to the dog is completely dry before placing the collar on the dog. Small amounts of harsh chemicals can damage the plastic components.

In order to effectively train the dog, the collar and device must fit the dog properly. If the collar is too loose or positioned incorrectly, stimulation may be inconsistent. This can delay or prevent successful training.

  1. Position the device at the front of the dog’s neck, with the
status LED facing toward the dog’s chin and the device against the throat. TIP: For bark correction, the device should be positioned near the dog’s vocal cords. This location varies based on the breed of dog. If the device does not seem to detect the dog’s barks, you should move the device closer to or farther from the dog’s body to find the ideal location.
  2. Confirm that the ID tags on the collar strap do not come into contact with the device. NOTE: ID tags contacting the device may cause unintentional corrections.
  3. Tighten the strap so that it is very snug around the dog’s neck, and fasten the buckle. NOTE: The collar should fit tightly and should not be able to rotate or slide on the dog’s neck. The dog must be able to swallow food and water normally. You should observe your dog’s behavior to verify that the collar is not too tight.
  4. Wiggle the device to work the contact points through the dog’s coat. NOTE: The contact points must have contact with the dog’s skin to be effective.
Garmin Canine App

The Garmin Canine app allows you to review your dog’s daily activity and get insights into your dog’s behavior. The app also allows you to wirelessly send software updates to your dog device.

Set up bark correction: Allows the device to detect and correct barks automatically. You can adjust the method of the corrections. When using stimulation, you can adjust the intensity level or use auto-rise.

Analyze your data: You can view summary data, including your dog’s daily activity level and number of barks. You can view more detailed information about your dog’s activity, including event times and corrective actions used.

Set up family members and dogs: Allows you to create and edit dog profiles, pair compatible dog collar devices, and invite other family members.

Syncing the Dog Collar Device with the Garmin Canine App

Garmin® recommends you sync your device daily to review updated data in the app and receive important notifications, such as low battery alerts and software updates.

  1. Bring your smartphone within 10 m (33 ft.) of the dog collar device.
TIP: You may need to wake the device if your dog is stationary for a long period of time.
  2. Open the Garmin Canine app. The dog collar device periodically syncs data with the Garmin Canine app automatically. The app indicates when the last sync occurred.
  3. View your current data in the Garmin Canine app.

Bark Correction

NOTICE Before playing with your dog, you should remove the dog collar device or deactivate the correction feature.

When using the BarkLimiter 2 device, you should remove all other collars, tags, or other items from your dog. These other items can cause the BarkLimiter 2 device to activate when the dog is not barking.

The BarkLimiter 2 device can correct your dog automatically when the dog barks. The device detects vibrations to distinguish between barking and other vocalizations. You can use the Garmin Canine app to manually adjust the amount of barking allowed. You can allow no barking or set a custom number to indicate how many barks are allowed before correcting your dog. You can also allow some barking (up to 5 barks) to help avoid unintentional corrections resulting from everyday activity, such as yawning, sneezing, or going through a dog door.
You can use any of these methods when correcting your dog with the BarkLimiter 2 device.

  • Tone
  • Vibration
  • Smart mode
  • Stimulation

NOTE: If you turn off all correction methods, the device continues to detect your dog’s barks without performing any corrections. This can help you track your dog’s barking behavior using the Garmin Canine app.

Smart Mode

You can configure the bark allowance and correction type in the Garmin Canine app. You must enable smart mode on the device for the changes you make in the Garmin Canine app to take effect. If the device is not in smart mode, the device reports only the bark history.

Selecting a Training Mode

When your device is paired with a smartphone (Syncing the Dog Collar Device with the Garmin Canine App, page 2), you can use smart mode. You must select smart mode on the collar to use the settings in the Garmin Canine app. When you do not select smart mode during setup, the device defaults to the last standard mode you used.
TIP: The device turns off when you hold the button for more than three seconds.

When the mode is set in the app, the center LED indicator turns blue and the smart mode option becomes available after you cycle through the standard corrections. You must press the button to see the current mode. When a correction is issued in smart mode, the corresponding LED indicates your selected correction.
You can select a standard or smart mode.

  1. Remove the collar band from the device.
  2. Press the mode button until the green LED indicates the current mode.
  3. Press the mode button within two seconds to cycle the green LED through the modes, and select a mode.
NOTE: When the center LED is blue, you can select smart mode.
After two seconds, the LED turns from green to red, and the device issues a sample correction of your selected mode.
When you select stimulation mode, the device does not issue a sample correction.
If the device is in smart mode, the blue LED cycles to a green, then a red LED on the selected correction mode.
Status LED Indicator

The center status LED indicators flashes when the device detects a bark or has a low battery charge.

Correction Methods

Stimulation: Applies a brief stimulation. You can manually adjust the stimulation intensity level using the Garmin Canine app.
Tone: Activates an audible tone. A tone can provide a patterned interruption to stop a behavior. The tone can be more effective when it is already associated with a negative consequence or alternate behavior.
Vibration: Applies a vibration to the dog for a short period of time to help break focus on the current cause of a behavior. The effectiveness of the vibration may vary based on the dog’s temperament and experience.

Automatic Intensity

The device can set the stimulation intensity level automatically based on the barking behavior of the dog. The device starts at the lowest intensity level and increases the intensity level gradually until the dog stops barking. When the dog is quiet, the intensity decreases over time.
The automatic intensity feature is designed to eliminate excessive nuisance barking. To stop barks sooner, you should set the intensity level manually.
The extended panic guard is a safety feature that disables stimulation after four corrections at the highest level, with 10 seconds between corrections. After the fourth correction, the device waits until no barks are detected in 2 minutes.
NOTE: When you set a fixed correction level, the device does not enter extended panic guard, even at the highest level of correction.

Choosing the Correct Intensity Level

You should choose the lowest intensity level that discourages the dog from barking. If you have never used a bark correction collar with the dog, the dog requires time and experience to learn that the bark is the cause of the correction.

  1. From the Garmin Canine app, set the intensity to the lowest level.
  2. For thirty minutes, when the dog barks, observe the dog for a reaction, such as a head shake, neck movement, a change in the way the dog barks, or just a change in expression.
  3. If there is no reaction, increase the intensity by one level until the dog has a slight but recognizable reaction to the stimulation.
  4. Allow 24 hours for the dog to learn to respond by not barking.
  5. If the dog continues barking while wearing the collar, increase the intensity level gradually until you find the level that discourages the dog from barking.
Troubleshooting

The bark detection is too sensitive
If the BarkLimiter feature activates when the dog is not barking, or if the bark detection appears to be too sensitive, you can try these tips.

  • Use the Garmin Canine app to adjust the amount of barking allowed before correcting your dog.
  • Use the Garmin Canine app to turn off the BarkLimiter feature during heavy play, when the dog is very active, or when the dog is eating.
  • Remove all other collars, tags, or other items from your dog.
My dog collar device is not responding

If the dog collar device stops responding, you can try these tips.

  • Verify the dog collar device is turned on (Turning On the Dog Collar Device, page 1).
  • Enable Bluetooth wireless technology on your smartphone.
  • Pair the dog collar device with your smartphone (Pairing Your Smartphone with the Dog Collar Device, page 1).
  • Confirm that you are the only user currently attempting to train the dog. NOTE: Only one smartphone can be connected to the dog collar device at a time.
  • Check the battery level of the dog collar device in the Garmin Canine app. NOTE: You should sync your dog collar device with the Garmin Canine app to view updated information and battery level notifications.
  • Hold the power key for 10 seconds to reset the dog collar device.
My device does not seem to be active

When the device is active, the selected mode LED flashes only when the device detects a bark, or you press the button.

  • Verify the collar is turned on (Turning On the Dog Collar Device, page 1).
  • Verify in the Garmin Canine app that the battery is not low.
  • Remove the device from the dog, and press the mode button. The device flashes the current battery status. If the LED is red, or the device does not respond, charge the device (Charging the Dog Collar Device, page 1).

My device is not charging or does not hold a charge
If the device does not seem to be charging or holding a charge, you can try these tips.

Troubleshooting
  • Verify the charging connections are secure (Charging the Dog Collar Device, page 1).
  • Verify the AC adapter and outlet are functional.
TIP: To determine whether the adapter is functional, you can plug the device into your computer with a USB cord.
  • Verify the status LED indicators are green after charging.
My dog is still barking

If the dog continues barking while wearing the device, you can try any of these options to improve the effectiveness of the device.

  • Tighten the collar until it is very snug (Fitting the Collar on Your Dog, page 2).
  • Adjust the position of the device on the dog’s neck (Fitting the Collar on Your Dog, page 2).
  • Wiggle the device to work the contact points through the dog’s coat.
  • Gradually increase the intensity level (Choosing the Correct Intensity Level, page 3).
My dog is barking too much

The BarkLimiter 2 device detects barks and, when paired with the Garmin Canine app, shows when barking occurs. You can use this information to determine the cause of the dog barking and take steps to prevent the behavior. Each dog and situation is different, and you should experiment to discover what works for your dog.
TIP: Barking habits can change as a dog ages. A younger dog can outgrow barking behaviors, and an older dog can develop new barking behaviors. You should discuss sudden changes in barking behavior with your veterinarian.
If you are home when the dog barks, you can play with the dog or take the dog for a walk. If the dog barks when you are not home, you can take some precautions to reduce barking.

  • Prevent the dog from seeing objects or people that can trigger barking. You can install privacy fencing for outdoor dogs, and close the blinds or curtains for indoor dogs.
  • Provide a safe place for the dog to reduce anxiety barking. The safe place should be cozy, limit the view to outside stimuli, and include a toy or food to occupy the dog.
  • Increase the physical and mental activity of the dog. Some dogs are vocal when they are bored. You can increase the amount of physical activity and engage the dog in active training and play time.
  • Look for suggestions online (Getting More Information, page 4).

NOTE: The pairing code or password is located on the transmitter or the camera. After you complete the pairing process with a camera for the first time, it connects automatically to the Garmin navigation device.

Guidance Lines

NOTICE:  The guidance lines feature is intended for informational and reference purposes only. You are responsible for maintaining awareness of your surroundings.

Guidance lines provide an approximate visual representation of the vehicle’s path when in reverse. To provide the most accurate reference, you must align the guidance lines for each backup camera. You should not use the guidance lines feature if you have not aligned the guidance lines.

Aligning the Guidance Lines

For best reference, the guidance lines should be aligned to reflect the outside edges of the vehicle. You should align the guidance lines separately for each backup camera.

  1. Position the vehicle with one side closely aligned to a curb, driveway, or parking stall lines. You may want to position the vehicle in the center of a parking stall, and then pull forward into the next stall. This allows you to use the parking stall lines in the rear of the vehicle as reference points for alignment. The curb, driveway, or parking stall lines should be clearly visible on the device.
  2. From the main menu, select > Rear View.
  3. If you have more than one camera paired, select > Choose Camera and select the camera to adjust.
  4. Select > Settings > Adjust Guidance Lines.
  5. Drag the circles on the corners of the guidance lines until they match the angle and position of the curb, driveway, or parking stall lines. The guidance lines should appear directly on top of your reference points. The red section of the guidance lines should be aligned with the rear of your vehicle.
  6. If necessary, reposition the vehicle with the other side closely aligned to a curb, driveway, or parking stall lines, and repeat the alignment process.
You should attempt to keep the guidance lines symmetrical, even if your vehicle is not in perfect alignment with the curb, driveway, or parking stall lines.
  7. Select after alignment is complete.

Showing or Hiding Guidance Lines

  1. Select > Rear View.
  2. If you have more than one camera paired, select > Choose Camera and select the camera to adjust.
  3. Select > Settings.
  4. Select or clear the Show Guidance Lines check box.

Restoring Alignment
You can reset the guidance lines to their default alignment.

  1. Select > Rear View.
  2. If you have more than one camera paired, select > Choose Camera and select the camera to adjust.
  3. Select > Settings > Adjust Guidance Lines.
  4. Select > RESET.

Multiple Cameras

You can pair up to 4 wireless cameras with a compatible Garmin device. For example, you can pair one backup camera installed on the cab and a second backup camera installed on a trailer. From the camera view, you can cycle through the video feeds from all paired cameras. You can change the order in which cameras appear when you switch cameras.

Switching Cameras

When multiple backup cameras are transmitting to your device, you can switch between the views from the cameras.

  1. Select > Rear View.
  2. Select > Choose Camera.
  3. Select a camera. The video feed from the camera appears, and the camera name appears at the top of the screen.

Changing the Camera Orientation

Depending on where the camera is placed on your vehicle, the video on your device may appear upside down or mirrored by default. You can rotate the video horizontally or flip the video vertically to correct the video.

  1. Select > Rear View > > Settings.
  2. Select an option:
    • Select Rotate Video.
NOTE: This is useful for cameras placed on the front or rear of your vehicle.
    • Select Flip Video.
NOTE: This is useful for cameras placed on either side of your vehicle.

Changing the Camera Order
You can change the order of the cameras in the list. When more than one camera is transmitting, the order of the cameras determine which video is shown.

  1. Select > Rear View.
  2. Select > Set Priority. A list of paired cameras appears.
  3. Drag each camera to the desired location in the list. Cameras towards the top of the list have priority when more than one camera is transmitting.
NOTE: You can switch manually to any transmitting camera, regardless of the position in the list (Switching Cameras, page 2).

Renaming a Camera
You can change the name that appears above a camera in the camera view. You should use a descriptive name that clearly identifies the location of the camera.

  1. From the main menu, select > Rear View.
  2. If you have more than one camera paired, select > Choose Camera and select the camera to rename.
  3. Select > Settings > Rename.

Removing a Paired Camera
If you have already paired 4 BC 35 cameras with your device, you must remove a paired camera before you can pair a new one.

  1. Select > Rear View.
  2. If necessary, select > Choose Camera and select the camera to remove.
  3. Select > Settings > Unpair.
  4. Select OK.

Wireless and Network Settings

Turning on and Off the Quick Connection Setting

The BC 35 wireless backup camera uses Wi‑Fi to communicate with your Garmin navigation device. Turning on the Quick Connection setting increases the priority of the camera connection on the device. This helps the device establish a connection with the paired camera more quickly, but may affect the connection speed for other Wi‑Fi devices.

  1. From the main menu, select > Rear View.
  2. If you have more than one camera paired, select > Choose Camera and select the camera to adjust.
  3. Select > Settings.
  4. Select or clear the Quick Connection check box.

G3X Touch Pilot’s Guide Addendum for the GTX 345DR

Beginning with G3X Touch software version 8.81, the G3X Touch can be configured to provide display and control for the GTX 345DR transponder with Extended Modes (IFF Modes 1 and 2) enabled. IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) is the military designation used by Air Traffic Control (ATC) to identify and track military aircraft. The GTX 345DR transponder does not support IFF Modes 4 or 5. In addition, support for Mode A/C Lock remote control was also added to provide a means to inhibit all transmissions that include aircraft identification (ICAO address, tail number, flight ID, etc.) and position data.
Only the GTX 345DR transponder is compatible with the G3X Touch for this purpose. These features must be enabled on the transponder using the GTX PC tool (all other configuration items are handled by the GDU). Once a transponder with these features enabled is connected to the G3X Touch, the Transponder Configuration Page displays new configuration items, and new user interface controls.

CONFIGURATION

EXTENDED MODES
When a transponder with extended modes enabled (using the GTX PC tool) is connected to the G3X Touch, the following new configuration items are displayed on the Transponder Configuration Page:

  • Mode 1 Code Length – Selects the number of digits to be used for Mode 1 IFF codes. The default is two, which allows for up to 32 IFF codes. You can select four, allowing up to 4096 codes.
  • Emergency Mode Discrete – When enabled, a discrete input on the GTX will be configured as an additional way to trigger the IFF emergency mode (pin 10 on GTX J3251, active low). Due to the way the GTX works, IFF emergency can always be enabled via our user interface, but the discrete input takes precedence when active.

MODE A/C LOCK
When a transponder with Mode A/C Lock enabled (using the GTX PC tool) is connected to the G3X Touch, the following new configuration item is displayed on the Transponder Configuration Page.

  • Mode A/C Lock Discrete – If enabled, Mode A/C Lock is only controllable via discrete input to the transponder (GTX J3251, pin 11, active low), and is not controllable through the G3X Touch user interface.

PILOT INTERFACE

EXTENDED MODES

Each IFF mode has its own code and can be enabled or disabled individually.

The Mode 3/A code in the data bar is displayed in green when airborne, Mode 3/A is enabled, and the transponder is not in Standby mode. The 1, 2, and 3 characters are displayed in either white or gray, which indicates their enabled/disabled state. The mode is highlighted green when the transponder is replying.

IFF EMERGENCY MODE

When Emergency Mode is enabled, the GTX 345DR includes emergency data replies to Mode 1, 2, and 3/A interrogations. Also, the Mode 3/A code is held at 7700 while Emergency Mode is active. Once Emergency Mode is disabled, Mode 3/A reverts to the code previously entered by the pilot prior to enabling Emergency Mode. Emergency Mode can be enabled or disabled by either a button on the GDU or by an optional discrete input and toggle switch.
Both controls are available if the toggle switch is used. If a toggle switch is used, it is wired as a discrete input to the GTX 345DR unit and it will override the GDU button when switched on. The toggle switch should be guarded to prevent accidentally enabling Emergency Mode.
The GDU button can control emergency mode while the toggle switch is switched ‘OFF’. The GTX 345DR automatically exits ‘Standby’ when the emergency mode is activated. A command to put the GTX into ‘Standby’ will be ignored while Emergency Mode is active.
ALTITUDE REPORTING
The Altitude Reporting button toggles Altitude Reporting On/Off. When Altitude Reporting is ‘On’, altitude data is included in replies to Mode C and S interrogations (when enabled) and ADS-B out squitters (when enabled). When Altitude Reporting is ‘Off’, altitude data is not included in these replies/squitters.
NOTE: For the GTX 345DR to transmit altitude in Mode C replies, Mode 3 must be set to ‘Normal’ (not ‘Standby’). The same is true for Mode S and ADS-B transmissions; in addition, ADS-B Mode S Inhibit (Mode A/C Lock) must be disabled and ADS-B Transmit (when control is present) must be enabled.

FUNCTION

Touching the Normal button allows for the normal operation of all enabled modes. Touching the Standby button places the transponder in ‘Standby’ which disables all transponder RF transmit capability. The option to place the transponder in ‘Standby’ is not available while in emergency mode.
MODE A/C LOCK
Touch the ADS-B/Mode S Inhibit button to inhibit all ADS-B out transmissions, all replies to Mode S interrogations, and acquisition squitter transmissions. The GTX 345DR reverts to ATCRBS (Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System) the only operation, therefore, it will continue to reply to Mode 1/2 (if the extended modes feature is enabled), and Mode 3/A/C interrogations regardless of aircraft air state.
The intent of this feature is to provide a means to inhibit all transmissions that include aircraft identification (ICAO address, tail number, flight ID, etc.) and position data. This feature does not prevent the aircraft from being tracked as it will still reply to Mode 3/A/C
interrogations if Mode 3 is enabled.
ADS-B/Mode S Inhibit mode can be enabled by either control on the GDU or by a separate toggle switch. Only one of these can be used in the installation. If a toggle switch is used, it is wired as a discrete input to the GTX 345DR unit and the GDU control does not appear. When the toggle switch is not used, control and status are provided on the GDU. Also, when the toggle switch is not used, the ADS-B TX button may be configured to appear on the Transponder page for another level of control over 1090 ES transmissions, while not inhibiting Model S.
The ‘NO MODE S TX’ and ‘NO ADS-B TX’ CAS messages are displayed when ADS-B / Mode
S Inhibit is active. The ‘NO ADS-B TX’ CAS message is displayed when ADS-B TX is disabled.

ADS-B TRANSMIT

The ADS-B Transmit button toggles ADS-B out On/Off. When disabled, 1090 ES transmissions do not occur. When enabled, 1090 ES transmissions occur when the unit is not in Standby, Mode 3 is enabled, and the Mode A/C Lock toggle switch is set to ‘Disable’.
The ADS-B Transmit button is only available in installations that use an external toggle switch to control Mode A/C Lock, or if the Mode A/C Lock feature is not enabled. Otherwise, the ADS-B/Mode S Inhibit button is displayed. In addition, the ADS-B Transmit button is only displayed if the GTX is configured to allow pilot control of ADS-B out.

Swing Metrics

Swing Speed

Swing speed is the speed of the club head when it hits the ball.

Swing Tempo

Swing tempo is the ratio of your backswing time to your downswing time. A 3 to 1 ratio, or 3.0, is the ideal swing tempo based on studies of professional golfers. You can achieve the ideal 3.0 tempo using different swing timings, for example, 0.7 sec./0.23 sec. or 1.2 sec./0.4 sec. Each golfer may have a unique swing tempo based on the golfer’s ability and experience.

  • Backswing time is the time from the start of the swing to the top of your backswing.
  • Downswing time is the time from the start of the downswing to impact with the ball.
Face to Target

The face to target is the angle of your club face in relation to your target path. The club path and face to target angles affect the ball’s flight.

  • Open indicates how far the club face is angled away from you.
  • Closed indicates how far the club face is angled toward you.

NOTE: The target path is the direction in which the club face is pointed at the start of the swing.

Club Path

Club path is a measurement of your club’s horizontal motion when viewed from overhead. The club path and face to target angles affect the ball’s flight.

  • The in-out angle indicates your club path is angled away from you.
  • The out-in angle indicates your club path is angled toward you.
Shaft Lean at Address

Shaft lean at address is the forward or backward angle at which you are holding the club when at address, measured from a 90-degree vertical angle.

Shaft Lean at Impact

The shaft lean at impact is the forward angle or backward angle at which you are holding the club when hitting the ball, measured from a 90-degree vertical angle. The angle of shaft lean determines the amount of dynamic loft in your swing.

Shaft Angle at Address

The shaft angle at address is the angle between the shaft and the ground as measured from the center of the shaft while the club is at address.

Shaft Angle at Impact

The shaft angle at impact is the angle between the shaft and the ground as measured from the center of the shaft when the club hits the ball.

Dynamic Loft

Dynamic loft is the loft angle of the club face at impact plus or minus the loft offset determined by the shaft lean and club face angle.

  • If the club is angled backward , the loft offset will be added to the loft of your swing.
  •  If the club is angled forward , the loft offset will be subtracted from the loft of your swing.
Ball Flight

The combination of your club path and the club face angle affects the ball’s flight. This illustration shows nine common club path and club face angle combinations and their resulting flight paths. You can improve the accuracy of your ball’s flight path by observing your recorded club path and club face angle and adjusting your swing.
NOTE: The projected flight paths are most accurate when striking the ball with the center of the club face.
