					<description><![CDATA[&#160; TH106, TL6160 Programmable Thermostat OWNER’S GUIDE * LP appears only for the first two minutes when the thermostat is without power. This can occur during a power outage or when the thermal protection device inside the baseboard heater is opened. Description This programmable thermostat can be used to control an electric heating system such as an electric baseboard heater, a radiant ceiling, a radiant floor, a convector or a fan-forced heater. The thermostat cannot be used with: a resistive load over 16.7 A a resistive load under 2 A a system driven by a contactor or relay (inductive load) a central heating system SUPPLIED PARTS: One (1) thermostat Two (2) 6-32 screws Two (2) solderless connectors Installation TURN OFF POWER TO THE HEATING SYSTEM AT THE MAIN POWER PANEL TO AVOID ELECTRICAL SHOCK. THE INSTALLATION MUST BE PERFORMED BY AN ELECTRICIAN. All cables and connections must conform to the local electrical code. Special CO/ALR solderless connectors must be used when connecting with aluminum conductors. Install the thermostat onto an electrical box. · Install the thermostat about 5 feet high, or an inside wall facing the heater. Avoid locations where there are air drafts (such as the top of a staircase or an air outlet), dead air spots (such as behind a door), or direct sunlight. Do not install the thermostat on a wall that conceals chimney or stove pipes. The thermostat wires are not polarized; either wire can be connected to the load or to the power supply. NOTE: Always keep the thermostat’s vents clean and unobstructed. Connect the thermostat wires to the line wires and to the load wires using solderless connectors for copper wires. Push any excess wire back into the electrical box. NOTE: If necessary, before re-installing the front component, configure the thermostat (see section 3). Return power to heating system. Configuration The configuration switches are on the back of the thermostat. The factory settings are indicated by the gray cells in the following table. SW1 Early Start a Off On SW2 Display format °C / 24-hour °F / 12-hour SW3 Cycle length b 15 seconds Baseboard heater 5 minutes Fan-forced heater SW4 Keypad lock c Off On a. Early Start can be used in Automatic mode only. When this function is enabled, the thermostat calculates the optimal time to start heating in order to obtain the desired temperature by the set time. The thermostat re-assesses the start time daily based on the previous day’s performance. b. You must select 5 minutes if you have a fan-forced heater. The word FAN is displayed when this setting is selected. Select 15 seconds for better temperature control in most other cases. c. The settings are locked. The temperature adjustment buttons only allow you to view the temperature setpoint. Clock and Day Setting Press the Hour button to set the hour. Press the Min button to set the minutes. Press the Day button to set the day. Press the Mode button to end. Daylight Savings Time The thermostat can automatically re-adjust its clock at Daylight Savings Time changeover. When this function is enabled (On), the thermostat switches to Daylight Savings Time on the second Sunday of March and to normal time on the first Sunday of November. NOTE: The function is disabled (default setting) when the clock loses its setting. Press the Day button (3 seconds) until DLS appears on the screen. Press either of the buttons to toggle between On (enabled) and Off (disabled). Press the Day button briefly. The year setting is displayed. Press either of the  buttons to set the current year. Press the Day button briefly. The month setting is displayed. Press either of the  buttons to set the current month. Press the Day button briefly. The date setting is displayed. Press either of the  buttons to set the current date. Press the Mode button to end. Temperature Settings Setpoint The thermostat normally displays the actual temperature. To view the setpoint, press the or button briefly. The setpoint will appear for the next 5 seconds. To change the setpoint, press the button until the desired temperature is displayed. To scroll faster, hold the button. Using a preset temperature The thermostat has 3 preset temperatures: Comfort temperature  Economy temperature Vacation temperature Icon Intended Use Factory Setting Comfort (when at home) 70°F (21°C) Economy (when asleep or away from home) 62°F (16.5°C) Vacation (during prolonged absence) 50°F (10°C) To use the Comfort or Economy temperature, press the or button respectively. The corresponding icon will be displayed. To use the Vacation temperature, press both  and  buttons simultaneously. The icon will be displayed. Storing a preset temperature To store the Comfort or Economy temperature: Set the desired temperature using the button. Press and hold the appropriate button (or ) for approximately 3 seconds until the corresponding icon is displayed. To store the Vacation temperature: Set the desired temperature using the button. Press and hold both and buttons simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds until the icon is displayed. Modes of Operation Automatic – The temperature is set according to the programmed schedule. To place the thermostat in this mode, press the Mode button until is displayed. The icons of the current period and preset temperature are also displayed. Temporary Bypass: If you modify the setpoint (by pressing the or button) when the thermostat is in automatic mode, the new setpoint will be used until the end of the current period. When the next period starts, the temperature set for that period becomes the new setpoint. To cancel the bypass, press the Mode button. Manual – The programmed schedule is not used. The temperature must be set manually. To place the thermostat in this mode: Press the Mode button until is displayed. Set the temperature using the , , or button. Schedule The schedule consists of 4 periods per day which represents a typical weekday. You can program the thermostat to skip the periods that do not apply to your situation. For example, you can skip periods 2 and 3 for the weekend. Period Description Setting Wake Leave Return Sleep The Comfort () temperature is used in periods 1 and 3 and the Economy () temperature is used in periods 2 and 4. For example, when the period changes from 1 to 2, the setpoint automatically changes from Comfort setting () to Economy setting (). You can have a different program for each day of the week; i.e., each period can start at different time for each day of the week. The thermostat has been programmed with the following schedule. Period 1 is selected. Press Day to select the day to program (hold for 3 seconds to select the entire week.) Press Hour and Min to set the start time of the selected period, or press Clear if you want to skip the period (–:– is displayed). Press Pgm to select another period, or press Day to select another day. Then repeat step 3. Press Mode to exit the programming mode. NOTE: If no button is pressed for 60 seconds, the thermostat will automatically exit the programming mode. Power Outage During a power outage, LP (Low Power) appears for the first minute. Then the screen becomes blank. The settings are stored in memory. After initial installation, product must be connected to power for a minimum of two hours to enable the power outage feature. However, if the power failure exceeds 4 hours, the thermostat’s clock must be re-adjusted and, if you are using the automatic Daylight Savings Time changeover function, it must be re-enabled. When power returns, the thermostat will return to the mode of operation active prior to the power failure. Troubleshooting Problem Solutions Thermostat is hot. Under normal operation, the thermostat housing can reach a temperature between 95°F (35°C) and 104°F (40°C). LO is displayed. The measured temperature is below the display range. Heating is activated. HI is displayed. The measured temperature is above the display range. Wrong temperature is displayed. The thermostat is exposed to air draft. Eliminate the draft. The sticker on the thermostat’s screen has not been removed. Wrong time is displayed. The thermostat was without power for more than 4 hours. Temperature does not change according to the programmed schedule. Check that the thermostat is in Automatic mode. Check the schedule and clock settings. LP appears on the screen or the screen is blank despite there is no power outage. The thermal circuit breaker in the heater is opened. This can happen if the heater is obstructed by furniture or curtain and has overheated, or if the thermal circuit breaker is defective. Display looks faded when heating is activated The heating system is less than the required minimum load. This thermostat cannot be used below that rating. The settings cannot be changed. The settings are locked (see section 3). E2 is displayed The thermostat performance is reduced due to a sensor error. Please contact technical support for more information. The thermostat must be installed on an electrical box. The box should be located as close as possible to the heating element, but not directly above it. How do i change temperature on the aube th401 non-programmable thermostat? it is set at 60 degrees which does no good for heating in montana. If you mean changing the set points, you need to hold both up/down button at the same time until the display blinks. Choose Fahrenheit or Celsius, F (Fan) or Baseboard (radiant heat). After these options you set your high point and your low point. My guess is that your high point maxes out at 60 degrees. You should be able to turn it up all the way to 85. If you can’t make any changes, it sounds like the device itself may be faulty. Do you have the ability to keep the screen permanently on (as in the back light always on)? The backlight only came on when the buttons were pressed, and I don’t remember seeing anything in the manual about an “always on” backlight setting. Is this the same as the cadet th401? that is, are they interchangeable? i want to use with a cadet cs102 wall fan heater. thanks! I’m not sure the model of the cadet matters. It works with both fan and radiant heat models. Will this go down to 35 degree I have 5 of these, will lower to 41 degrees at the least. Does this unit require batteries or is it hard wired? This unit is wired directly to your 220v 2-wire circuit for the thermostat. This is a line voltage thermostat. How do you turn the A/C on? This Thermostat is not to control an A/C unit, is design to control a: ( baseboard, cadet) heater. (120v/240v) Is very simple and it works fine with that load but can not control a central heating/cooling system. Will this stat work with my fan forced Cadet electric wall heater?? Yes it will. That is the exact application I used the thermostat for. However, during setup you must set the thermostat for fan forced air. As a safety feature, it will cycle the heater off every five minutes. can you add a floor sensor to this? No Is the screen backlit, and if so, what is the color of the lcd? The screen is backlit it’s blue Can I manually override the preprogrammed setting Yes, the temporary bypass enables temperature override without changing programming. Does this have an on/off switch to ensure its not pulling power? It does not have an on/off switch. If you want to be sure the TH401 is unpowered, flip its circuit breaker off. You can set the temperature as low as 40°F (5°C). If that set temperature is below room temperature, the TH401 will draw only trace power, but it will still be powered. Can i use this to control a circulator (on/off only 110v)? It’s for resistive loads, not inductive. So your circulator (motor) would have to be low wattage. I don’t know how low. Could this be used for rental homes where max temperature setting can be set and not tampered with? Yes, max temp is preset by manufacture Can this replace the round mercury thermostat with 2 wires and no on/off switch? <h4>Modes of Operation</h4>

To place the thermostat in this mode, press the Mode button until is displayed. The icons of the current period and preset temperature are also displayed.</p>
<p><strong>Temporary Bypass:</strong> If you modify the setpoint (by pressing the <img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/aube-icon-8.webp" /> or <img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/aube-icon-6.webp" />button) when the thermostat is in automatic mode, the new setpoint will be used until the end of the current period. When the next period starts, the temperature set for that period becomes the new setpoint. To cancel the bypass, press the Mode button.</p>

For example, when the period changes from 1 to 2, the setpoint automatically changes from Comfort setting (<img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/aube-icon-5.webp" />) to Economy setting (<img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/aube-icon-6.webp" />).<br />
You can have a different program for each day of the week; i.e., each period can start at different time for each day of the week. The thermostat has been programmed with the following schedule.</p>

<p>To modify the schedule:</p>
<ol>
<li>Press Pgm to access the programming mode. Period 1 is selected.</li>
<li>Press Day to select the day to program (hold for 3 seconds to select the entire week.)</li>
<li>Press Hour and Min to set the start time of the selected period, or press Clear if you want to skip the period (–:– is displayed).</li>
<li>Press Pgm to select another period, or press Day to select another day. Then repeat step 3.</li>
<li>Press Mode to exit the programming mode.<br />
<strong>NOTE:</strong> If no button is pressed for 60 seconds, the thermostat will automatically exit the programming mode.</li>
</ol>
<h4>Power Outage</h4>
<p>During a power outage, LP (Low Power) appears for the first minute. Then the screen becomes blank. The settings are stored in memory. After initial installation, product must be connected to power for a minimum of two hours to enable the power outage feature. However, if the power failure exceeds 4 hours, the thermostat’s clock must be re-adjusted and, if you are using the automatic Daylight Savings Time changeover function, it must be re-enabled. When power returns, the thermostat will return to the mode of operation active prior to the power failure.</p>

<p class="schema-faq-answer">The thermostat must be installed on an electrical box. The box should be located as close as possible to the heating element, but not directly above it.</p>
<p><strong class="schema-faq-question">How do i change temperature on the aube th401 non-programmable thermostat? it is set at 60 degrees which does no good for heating in montana.</strong></p>
<p class="schema-faq-answer">If you mean changing the set points, you need to hold both up/down button at the same time until the display blinks. Choose Fahrenheit or Celsius, F (Fan) or Baseboard (radiant heat). After these options you set your high point and your low point. My guess is that your high point maxes out at 60 degrees. You should be able to turn it up all the way to 85. If you can’t make any changes, it sounds like the device itself may be faulty.</p>

If that set temperature is below room temperature, the TH401 will draw only trace power, but it will still be powered.</p>

<p class="schema-faq-answer">It’s for resistive loads, not inductive. So your circulator (motor) would have to be low wattage. I don’t know how low.</p>

To prevent severe shock or electrocution, always cut the power at the service panel before working with wiring. Use this thermostat for resistive loads only. Do NOT install the thermostat in an area where it can be exposed to water or rain. Avoid locations where there are air drafts (top of the staircase, air outlet), dead air spots (behind a door), direct sunlight or concealed chimney or stove pipes (except for floor heating systems). For a new installation, choose a location about 1.5 m (5 ft.) above the floor. Install the thermostat on an inside wall facing the heating system (except for floor heating systems). Install the thermostat onto an electrical box. Use special CO/ALR solderless connectors if you connect the thermostat to aluminum wires. Supplied Parts One (1) thermostat Two (2) mounting screws One (1) floor sensor * One (1) flat-tip screwdriver * Four (4) solderless connectors for copper wires * Select models only; required for floor heating applications only. Controls *Place at Off/Standby to cut power to the heater (e.g., in the summer). This will not affect the time and temperature settings. **When the backlight button or either of the buttons is pressed, the display illuminates for 12 seconds. Display * The thermostat normally displays the actual (measured) temperature. To view the setpoint temperature, briefly press either of the buttons. The setpoint will appear for 5 seconds. To change the setpoint temperature, press one of the buttons until the desired temperature is displayed. To scroll faster, press and hold the button. Installing the thermostat Turn the heating system off at the main electrical panel. Loosen the bottom screw and remove the thermostat faceplate from its wallplate. (The screw cannot be completely  removed.) Connect the thermostat to the load and to the power supply (see page 7). If the thermostat will be used in F or AF Mode (see page 9), connect the floor sensor (see page 8). WARNING: For floor heating applications, you must install a separate ground protection device at the main electrical panel or use a thermostat with a built-in ground protection device. If you wish to connect a remote control device, see page 8. Install the wall plate to the electrical box using the provided screws. Set the configuration switches on the back of the faceplate (see page 9). Install the faceplate back on the wall plate and tighten the screw. Apply power to the heating system at the main electrical panel. Wiring diagram NOTE: Connect the wires using the provided solderless connectors for copper wires. Insert the floor sensor cable through one of the two openings on the wall plate and connect the sensor wires to terminals 3 and 4 (no polarity). • The sensor wires must not come in contact with the electrical wires and must be routed outside the electrical box and follow the wall down to the floor. • Position the sensor cable such that it does not come in contact with the floor heating wires. The sensor must be centered between two-floor heating wires for the best temperature control. • Do NOT staple the sensor head (the plastic end) to the floor. Doing so might damage the sensor. Any damage might not be noticeable during testing but can become apparent several days later. If you wish to connect a remote control device (see page 17), insert the wires (use 18- to 22-gauge flexible wires) through  one of the two openings on the wallplate and connect them to terminals 1 and 2 (no polarity). Connecting the floor sensor / remote control # Configurations Up Down 1 Display format °F / 12 h °C / 24 h 2 Early Start¹ Enable Disable 3 Temperature control mode² F A AF Early Start is used in Automatic mode only. When Early Start is enabled (on), the thermostat determines when to start heating so the Comfort temperature is attained at the beginning of periods 1 and 3. When Early Start is disabled (off),  heating starts only at the beginning of periods 1 and 3; thus there is a delay before the Comfort temperature is reached. See page 3. To select the F Mode, place the switch in the F position. To select the AF Mode, place the switch in the AF  position and ensure that the temperature sensor is connected to the thermostat. To select the A Mode, place the switch in the AF position and ensure that the remote temperature sensor is NOT connected to the thermostat. Time and day To set the clock and the day: Press the Hour button to set the hour. Press the Min button to set the minutes. Press the Day button to set the day. Daylight Saving Time When the Daylight Saving Time function is enabled (On), the thermostat automatically switches to Daylight Saving Time on the second Sunday of March and to normal time on the first Sunday of November. NOTE: The Daylight Saving Time function is disabled (default setting) when the clock loses its setting. To set the Daylight Saving Time function and to set the date: Press the Day button (3 seconds) until DLS appears on the screen. Press either of the buttons to toggle between On (enabled) and Off (disabled). Press the Day button briefly. The year setting is displayed. Press either of the buttons to set the current year. Floor temperature limits (AF mode only) WARNING: To avoid damaging your floor, follow your floor supplier’s recommendations regarding floor temperature limits. The minimum and maximum floor temperature limits are 5.0°C (41°F) and 28.0°C (82°F) by default. To modify these limits, proceed as follows: Switch the thermostat Off. Press and hold the button. Switch the thermostat back to On. Release the button when the minimum temperature limit (FL: LO) appears. Set the minimum temperature limit using the buttons. Press the button to display the maximum temperature limit (FL: HI). Set the maximum temperature limit using the buttons. Press Mode/Ret to return the thermostat to the normal display. The thermostat has 3 preset temperatures. Their default settings are shown in the following table. The Comfort ( ) preset temperature is automatically used in Periods 1 and 3 and the Economy ( ) preset temperature in Periods 2 and 4. You can program the thermostat to skip (cancel) the periods that do not apply to your situation. For example, you can skip periods 2 and 3 for the weekend. NOTE: If you wish to use only 2 periods, use the following combinations: “1 and 4” or “2 and 3”. Early Start (see page 9) will not work with any other combinations. Period 1 for Monday is displayed. To program another period, press Pgm to display that period. To program another day, press Day to display that day (hold for 3 seconds to select the entire week). Press Hour and Min to set the period start time or press Clear to skip (cancel) the period (–:– will be displayed). Repeat steps 2 to 4 to program another period. Press Mode/Ret to return the thermostat to the normal display. NOTE: The thermostat will automatically return to normal display if no button is pressed for 60 seconds. Running the schedule (Automatic mode) In Automatic mode, the thermostat follows the programmed schedule (see page 14). To place the thermostat in this mode, press  Mode/Ret until is displayed. Temporary override of schedule If you modify the setpoint temperature (by pressing the, or button) when the thermostat is in Automatic mode, the new emperature will be used until the beginning of the next period. flashes during the temporary override. You can cancel the temporary override by pressing Mode/Ret. Error Messages The measured temperature is below the display range. Heating is activated. CAUTION:</strong></p>

<li>Installation must be carried out by a certified electrician and must comply with national and local electrical codes.</li>
<li>To prevent severe shock or electrocution, always cut the power at the service panel before working with wiring.</li>
<li>Use this thermostat for resistive loads only.</li>
<li>Do NOT install the thermostat in an area where it can be exposed to water or rain.</li>
<li>Avoid locations where there are air drafts (top of the staircase, air outlet), dead air spots (behind a door), direct sunlight or concealed chimney or stove pipes (except for floor heating systems).</li>
<li>For a new installation, choose a location about 1.5 m (5 ft.) above the floor.</li>
<li>Install the thermostat on an inside wall facing the heating system (except for floor heating systems).</li>
<li>Install the thermostat onto an electrical box.</li>
<li>Use special CO/ALR solderless connectors if you connect the thermostat to aluminum wires.</li>
<li>Keep the thermostat’s top and bottom air vents (openings) clean and unobstructed at all times..</li>

<h4>About your thermostat</h4>
<p>The TH115 programmable thermostat has three temperature control modes:</p>

<h4>Display</h4>

<p>* The thermostat normally displays the actual (measured) temperature. To view the setpoint temperature, briefly press either of the<img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/aube-TH115-A-120S-U-Single-Pole-Programmable-Thermostat-icon-12.webp" /> buttons. The setpoint will appear for 5 seconds. To change the setpoint temperature, press one of the <img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/aube-TH115-A-120S-U-Single-Pole-Programmable-Thermostat-icon-12.webp" />buttons until the desired temperature is displayed. To scroll faster, press and hold the button.</p>
<h4>Installing the thermostat</h4>
<ol>
<li>Turn the heating system off at the main electrical panel.</li>
<li>Loosen the bottom screw and remove the thermostat faceplate from its wallplate. (The screw cannot be completely  removed.)</li>
<li>Connect the thermostat to the load and to the power supply (see page 7).</li>
<li>If the thermostat will be used in F or AF Mode (see page 9), connect the floor sensor (see page 8).<br />
<strong>WARNING:</strong> For floor heating applications, you must install a separate ground protection device at the main electrical panel or use a thermostat with a built-in ground protection device.</li>
<li>If you wish to connect a remote control device, see page 8.</li>
<li>Install the wall plate to the electrical box using the provided screws.</li>
<li>Set the configuration switches on the back of the faceplate (see page 9).</li>
<li>Install the faceplate back on the wall plate and tighten the screw.</li>
<li>Apply power to the heating system at the main electrical panel.</li>
</ol>
<h4>Wiring diagram</h4>
<p><strong>NOTE:</strong> Connect the wires using the provided solderless connectors for copper wires.</p>
<ol>
<li>Insert the floor sensor cable through one of the two openings on the wall plate and connect the sensor wires to terminals 3 and 4 (no polarity).<br />
• The sensor wires must not come in contact with the electrical wires and must be routed outside the electrical box and follow the wall down to the floor.<br />
• Position the sensor cable such that it does not come in contact with the floor heating wires. The sensor must be centered between two-floor heating wires for the best temperature control.<br />
• Do NOT staple the sensor head (the plastic end) to the floor. Doing so might damage the sensor. Any damage might not be noticeable during testing but can become apparent several days later.</li>
<li>If you wish to connect a remote control device (see page 17), insert the wires (use 18- to 22-gauge flexible wires) through  one of the two openings on the wallplate and connect them to terminals 1 and 2 (no polarity).</li>

When Early Start is enabled (on), the thermostat determines when to start heating so the Comfort temperature is attained at the beginning of periods 1 and 3. When Early Start is disabled (off),  heating starts only at the beginning of periods 1 and 3; thus there is a delay before the Comfort temperature is reached.</li>
<li>See page 3. To select the F Mode, place the switch in the F position. To select the AF Mode, place the switch in the AF  position and ensure that the temperature sensor is connected to the thermostat. <h4>Modifying the schedule</h4>
<ol>
<li>Press PGM. Period 1 for Monday is displayed.</li>
<li>To program another period, press Pgm to display that period.</li>
<li>To program another day, press Day to display that day (hold for 3 seconds to select the entire week).</li>
<li>Press Hour and Min to set the period start time or press Clear to skip (cancel) the period (–:– will be displayed).</li>
<li>Repeat steps 2 to 4 to program another period.</li>
<li>Press Mode/Ret to return the thermostat to the normal display.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>NOTE:</strong> The thermostat will automatically return to normal display if no button is pressed for 60 seconds.</p>
<h4>Running the schedule (Automatic mode)</h4>
<p>In Automatic mode, the thermostat follows the programmed schedule (see page 14). To place the thermostat in this mode, press  Mode/Ret until is displayed.</p>
<h4>Temporary override of schedule</h4>
<p>If you modify the setpoint temperature (by pressing the<img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/aube-TH115-A-120S-U-Single-Pole-Programmable-Thermostat-icon-12.webp" />,<img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/aube-TH115-A-120S-U-Single-Pole-Programmable-Thermostat-icon.webp" /> or<img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/aube-TH115-A-120S-U-Single-Pole-Programmable-Thermostat-icon-2.webp" /> button) when the thermostat is in Automatic mode, the new emperature will be used until the beginning of the next period. <img decoding="async" src="https://usemanuals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/aube-TH115-A-120S-U-Single-Pole-Programmable-Thermostat-icon-312.webp" /> flashes during the temporary override. You can cancel the temporary override by pressing Mode/Ret.</p>
